nd is poison if they dont join full. they are gold if they join full. that has been and will always be the issue

You have to love it. I have been waiting a long time for the realignment game to catch up to the ACC. They have been the beneficiary for so long, entirely at the detriment of the Big East. One can only hope they suffer through this for a long, long time.

Unless we join.

He is right. ACC could be picked apart soon. Not sure us going to the ACC is the long term solution, but if that's the only one available we have to take it. Hopefully, B1G is smart enough and invite us and Virginia and go to 16. ACC can keep all the private schools.

Looks like the ACC believes others are leaving.

When we said this, we were called delusional. Now the acc went and pissed off the B1G by giving ND the same deal as the big east when he B1G had been truing to get them to join for years.

Notre Dame should change their name to "Tranghese's Revenge".

If we go to the ACC to me it looks like going from the Titanic to the Bismarck- I hope Carl likes this. Am I right in assuming that ND taking Bowl or playoff spots from the ACC while not being all in is what is poisoning the ACC well?

Scary. This is the NBE Part Deux.

But I guess better hope we get on the crazy train too!

I thought it was only twice every twelve years that ND could take the OB slot from the ACC?

Seems Coach K realizes that the ACC's mistake was adding ND as a partial member instead of UConn and RU. ND got B1G nervous.

ACC front office is having a very bad day. Alot of key conference personalities second guessing them.

The worst mistake ACC ever did was signing that horrible TV deal with ESPiN. Because of that, schools are scared they will be left behind in the CFB arm race. This is the main reason schools are thinking of bailing. I have predicted long ago when ACC signed that deal they will be screwed in the long run. It is happening faster than I thought. That 16 years of death sentence might be the deal that will kill the ACC.

Maryland left for one reason: money. Nothing more nothing less. B1G got a ton while ACC got much less.

What we're seeing or going to be seeing is the Big East destruction scenario being played out in the ACC, all compressed into a week. First, Notre Dame is invited. Then, teams leave. Then the remaining teams question whether or not it was smart to make this kind of deal with Notre Dame, but now they can't do anything because the the conference is in a weaker position. I certainly hope no one from the ACC starts complaining about how conferences take teams from other conferences is "uncollegiate".

They don't ever take the ACC's spot. Twice in twelve year's they can be the ACC's opponent.

I believe ND has access to ACC's minor bowls. By inviting ND, ACC basically turned into the BE overnight. B1G is mad because ACC gave ND indy a lifeline and that's why they are done waiting for ND and going into expansion mode. Delaney wants to show other conferences B1G has the biggest d**k among everyone else.

The Big is acting because they're mad at the ACC? Not to make more money?

I would think the odds of that are close to zero.

I just edited my post. B1G was waiting on ND. When ND decided to join the ACC, that's why B1G decided to make their move. I believe ND to the ACC is what set B1G off. They are done waiting for ND and now will do what they can to grow the B1G network.

If Delaney really thought that ND was close to joining the Big Ten as an equal, no specials deal, member, he's not nearly as smart as everyone thinks he is.

But we will never know.

The last game I want to watch on Saturday is the B1g game in the early slot. Good luck getting people to pay for the B1g network. Especially if RU and Maryland reside in the bottom third of the conference in FB and hoops.

The B1G has been the richest conference in the country. The addition of ND has the potential to make the BTN a national brand. They aren't on NBC because they have a regional following. As slim as you and I (and Delaney) agree the odds are/were, the potential windfall may have been worth the wait. Pure speculation on my part. But they can still go to 16 with ND, and they just made the ACC more fragile. The added markets (presumably) made the decision to expand financially feasible, but the ND/ACC may have pushed the timeline up, it's possible.

Yeah really didn't understand that tv deal with ESPN and the conflict with tier 3 rights. Didnt seem like a plus for anyone but NC and Duke.

If ESPN does not dramatically improve the ACC TV deal - they will kill the value that they may have with the contract. Teams will keep on bolting for greener pastures.
