You have to give credit to USF's coach Willie Taggart for these quotes after USF got smoke by FCS McNeese St. He is right on mark and there are no excuses. Why aren't UCONN fans hearing the same thing?

PP sounds blasé after a terrible loss. Taggart is angry and excited. I would think USF will get better as the season goes on. Will UCONN?

Now, this kind of thing is smart for the coach to do after that loss, but if USF keeps losing it'll get old fast.

A first year head coach that inherited a bad team has a long grace period. A third year head coach that inherited a decent team off a BCS bowl has no grace period.

How is that any different then what Coach P said? "It was just a piss-poor effort by our guys all around." Sounds like he was throwing his players under the bus. I could care less what the coach sounds like after the game. He could be a belligerent like Parcells, Belichick or Coughlin for all I care. Just do well on the field.

Has any of the three coaches I mentioned ever? Did Calhoun ever? I am not defending Coach P. But most good coaches don't suck up to the fan bases. They have a chip on their shoulder.

I don't think I ever saw a Calhoun team get beat on bad schemes. Poor effort? Sometimes, but you always saw Calhoun addressing that on the floor. PP just stands there and doesn't show much emotion.

That is one of the most frustrating facts about Thursday night. No matter how mad I have ever been at a men's team, when the camera panned to JC it was always clear he was more angry/embarrassed/frustrated than I was - and that was reassuring. With PP, not so much.
