How much longer do we have coach Hurley under contract for? And since we have a tough 24 hours to get through before game-day, I’ll ask: Does anybody else think we should offer him an extension for a long time?

He originally signed a 6 year deal back in 2018, and then last March they extended him another two years through March 31, 2027.

I didn’t know either of those. Thanks. Assumed he had 2-3 more years based on when he originally signed.

Maybe Hurley should win an NCAA tournament game or two first.

You mean another NCAA game or two? Last year was the first time he made the tournament and didn't win a game.

Your Yahoo search engine is your friend

Without using Yahoo or any other search engine (LMGTFY which I learned a few weeks ago. I had always been a GTS fan), it's pretty common to continuously extend a coach's contract so there is always a minimum of four years on it for recruiting purposes. Doesn't exactly send a great signal to recruits when the coach recruiting you only has 2 years remaining on a contract.
I'll assume actual contracts vary greatly but for gen pop consumption a coach in good standing and the school will always be stating a minimum of four more years.

We are so lucky to have Hurley. Hope he's in it for the long haul--think he's said he has had dreams of coaching in the NBA.

I do not think Hurley would work in the NBA. Hopefully he enjoys being here and turning UConn back to a national power for years and years.

It comforts me that we've locked him in for as long as Edsall.
