2. Army 55 miles
3. Temple 96 miles
4. UConn 140 miles
5. UMass 168 miles
6. Boston College 211 miles
7. Navy 215 miles
8. Maryland 219 miles
9. Penn St. 236 miles
10. Syracuse 246 miles

Big 1G has 3 of the top 9, and adding UConn would help solidify the NYC metro area. By the way, how is Syracuse NYC's school?

140 miles? Is that if you drive to NYC via Albany?

Nope, it is that far from Storrs. Boston is definitely closer.

It is 140M. Now you know why midweek games at Gampel are impossible for me working in the city.

We should move the campus closer, after we expand the Rent and install a retractable roof.

It's 100 miles if you do East Hartford to the edges of the Bronx

Weird how the one that outrates them all together isn't on the list.

From my office to Gampel it is 140M. You can do the edge of the Bronx to UCONN Stamford in under 30 minutes.

With work and family, I am so glad that neither Seton Hall nor St. John’s cansell out a game on their own so UConn fans get to take over MSG and the Rock for hoops.
I think the BiG is more interested in TV sets and the number of Alumni in a metro area than actual distance. Especially as the concept of ‘distance’ in the N’east (damn, 140 miles to Storrs, no way am I driving that far for a game!) versus the Midwest is a LOT different (the ‘Huskers are playing Northwestern this weekend in football, it’s only 500 miles, road trip!).
If I remember right, in terms of Alumni in NYC, it’s 1) Rutgers, 2) ND, 3) Penn State, 4) UConn, 5) ‘Cuse.

How far is it from Storrs to Queens if, you know, we took a boat part of the way?

Are you measuring from Storrs or the border of UConn Country (which I would say is the Connecticut line)?

Doesn't matter. Our Navy seems to be bogged down on its way to conquer Rhode Island anyway.

Because they have a sign in Yankee Stadium. If it's on a billboard on the left field second deck facing, it's got to be true.

The way I see it the western border of UConn country is the Hudson river.

I call BS on this. UConn Stamford is 20 miles from 233rd st in the Bronx ;-)

Correction: Our Navy is running silent and deep. That's good for the submarines but...uh...not so good for our aircraft carriers which are sitting on the bottom of the ocean

Well, Syracuse is at least in the state. Which is more than can be said for anyone else on that list not named Army.

Also, the Big 1G has 3 of the top 9, but also 1 of the top 7. So where you draw that arbitrary cut-off line can alter the picture significantly.

Not trying to attack you personally or anything, just pointing out that the proximity to NY is laregly meaningless concerning UConn/Big 10. If the Big 10 was overly concerned about it, UConn would be in the conference already.
