Was looking at Kenpom and unfortunately Clingan doesn't play enough to rank nationally (Have to play 40% of minutes and he's at 37.7%), but if he did here's where he'd rank Nationally:

Offensive Rating: 132.8 (1st) - Next closest is 125.5
eFG%: 75.5% (5th)
TS%: 71.7% (18th)
Offensive Rebounding %: 22.8% (1st)
Defensive Rebounding %: 20.5% (5th)
Block %: 14.3% (6th)
Fouls Drawn /40min: 5.9 (73rd)
2pt %: 76.6% (10th)

Clingan was named ESPN's player of the week:
"He played just 34 minutes total in two wins over Florida and LIU, averaging 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting a ridiculous 18-for-19 from the field. He didn't miss any of his 10 shots in UConn's win over the Sharks on Saturday, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds in just 15 minutes. The 7-foot-2 freshman from Bristol, Connecticut, is off to a much stronger start than many expected, providing a dominant backup option behind star big man Adama Sanogo"

His #s backup the eye test, he's GOOD. And as they say a "true freshman"...

He's got one area to work on, FT% (53.1% yikes), he's drawing ~3 fouls per game. If we pretend those are all 2 shot fouls 3pts isn't make-it or break-it by any means but I would still like to see him get that up. Might matter more if he becomes the primary 5 in the future and has more minutes.

He's got good form, does anyone know what he shot in HS? I would say it's freshman jitters but we're pretty far into the season and he's shown elsewhere he's not scared (CHOMP CHOMP FL).

The fouls drawn per 40 is clearly unacceptable.

Right now as a team UConn is averaging 1.16 points per possession. A possession in which Donovan Clingan shoots two free throws at 53% is worth 1.06 points. LIU probably should have employed the Hack-a-Don strategy in that game.

I don’t know how he can continue at this pace against BE competition. Some of these number might come down a bit because every game is more competitive.

His mom focused on him being successful at the line, hence Donovan referencing foul shooting on her gravestone. It was my understanding from a radio show he did a couple years ago, that he was a 75% foul shooter at a minimum until he hit a growth spurt over 6'8. As he grew over 7' his release point, arc, etc changed obviously, and he has been fighting to get back over 75% and is committed to at least that result. I doubt if that objective is changed.

A little bit.

I hear the practice against each other every day are absolute wars, which is why DC is coming off bench and exceeding EVERYONE'S expectations, including the Head Coach's.

Surprised that there are 4 ahead of him in efg%. Do they take one shot a game on a put back?

Clingan has a smooth stroke from the FT line. No wasted movement, nothing herky jerky. I think part of the issue is he doesn't shoot a bunch of FT's every game. There really isn't anything fundamentally you would change with his FT stroke.

Yeah the shot mechanics are good, it's just his arc/release point, which is extremely difficult for tall guys with long arms. He keeps back rimming it because he needs more arc.

The leader in the country in EFG% is actually our nemesis Ryan Kalkbrenner. He takes similar shots to Clingan and, like Clingan, plays with a lot of other talented shot creators. Probably help that he is much older and more experienced too.
