Amir "Primo" Spears. It appears to be a nickname.Primo Spears is a D1 name in any sport.
According to verbal commits he has been offered by njit and St. John’s don’t know how accurate that list isIs Spears being recruited by anyone of note?
About a month old but here's the most recent info I found. Is Spears being recruited by anyone of note?
I wouldn’t briefly watch a guard with almost no offers play against CIAC competition and decide he’s good enough to play at UConn.Looks like he's 6'1-6'2. Just skinny. Why can't UConn give him a chance. Hometown kid. He can be a role player if anything. Seems like he's got plenty of ability.
Post/handle?Are we talking Justin Brown here, or Jake Voskuhl 2.0??
He will be way better then Justin Brown. Different player then Jake Voskuhl. Not as strong or as much of a physical presence then Jake, but will hold his own defensively once he gets a little stronger. Much better offensive player then Jake. Has good foot work around hoop, finishes with both hands and has a soft touch on his outside shot. Are we talking Justin Brown here, or Jake Voskuhl 2.0??
We will see his greatest leaps and bounds over the next 18 months but I think personally he needs to change his AAU team and play on a team that has legit D-1 players everywhere to get recruited not regionally but nationally. He needs to go to a Nike or AA sponsored team. If that doesn’t happen he will never get those offers from the Duke’s Kentucky’s Kansas’s etc of the world. In terms of his shot, it is coming along slowly and getting better in a big way. Still the book is out at the next level if he will be able to get his mid range shot off with tight defense against all of those 6-6—6-8 type wings/stretch 4 players every team seems to have that can jump out the gym. Stats are irrelevant on the HS level for him because he sits a lot in blow outs and his guard play outside of the last two games has been horrible. They can’t hit the rim on open looks on the hs level is terrible and not allowable at this point. The more the guards facilite and knock down shots the more 1 v 1 looks not 3 v 1 looks he will get in the post. But again he isn’t 16 yet and generally outside of the northeast an unknown because of lack of competition and lack ofAAU team prestige.
Again he is turning 16 this month, and had improved greatly from last year.
Would love to see him as a Husky
Just got an update in BCHS game. They beat a Middletown 71-59. Clingan 34pts, 22 reb and 15 blocks. Back to back monster games.
