VAUConn, I agree with you, whole-heartedly. Without rehashing the whole episode, there is a big difference - or should be, anyway - between a school record being humanely (to use Geno's word) arranged and something that really counts, that involves money, elections, what have you.
Many of you will recall this, but I'm always struck by the hypocritical difference between the public outcry over Sale's basket, and the lack of same over Michael Strahan's NFL sack record, just a couple of years later. Strahan's last, record-breaking sack was as "bogus" as Sales' last basket - and, it involved a national record, and it involved bonus money and commercial opportunity. Yet, the "old boys" whined a helluva lot less over that than they did about a record that involved no league record, no national record, and no money. I guess, if there isn't anything really at stake, then it's morally reprehensible.
