Oh thank god. Beating Memphis will be hard. But we know we can do it in Memphis. Beating Cincy can be hard, we know we can do it. And if we won those two games and played Louisville? I'll just go get drunk and not watch the game, knowing we had two more Top 50 wins...

We won something today!

I think we can beat Memphis and Cincy and earn a 5 or 6 seed.

We aren't beating any good team right now unless there is some serious juice added somewhere.

Raftery supervised the coin toss.
Considering how bad our loss was, this is not a bad outcome for us. Granted I would have like to avoid playing Memphis in Memphis and avoiding SMU as well, but consider our draw:

We face a Memphis team we seem to match up well against and have beaten twice. If we take an early lead against Memphis or simply make crowd killing plays along the way, we can take the crowd out of the game. If we fall behind, it could spell trouble, especially if the crowd influences the refs. If we get past the Tigers, we will likely face a Cinci team we split with, just recently beat and almost beat them twice if not for some sketchy officiating at Cinci.

Avoiding UL and SMU, two teams that we simply match up horribly against, is a good thing.

I would not be shocked if we win the next two and face UL again. On one hand, I'd be just fine never having to face UL ever again, but would gladly have another shot at them in the AAC final. The good with that possibility would be if we win or at least compete with them, it could help our seeding a bit and erase this game from the minds of some who will be seeding teams. On the other hand, another blow out loss could kick us down to a bad seed, though beating Memphis a 3rd time and Cinci a second time, would likely more than offset another bad loss to UL.

Anyhow, apart from the miserable blow out today, the AAC tourney seeding is not all that bad and might work in our favor.

LOL! It might just turn out that way. If so, I would hope we just don't get embarrassed yet again against UL. They appear to be a match-up nightmare for us. I'd rather never face them again, but if it turns out to be the outcome after beating Memphis and UC again, I'm okay with that. Who know? Maybe UConn will shoot lights out against UL and our guys surprise us like the Kemba Walker team did back in 2011. Time to dream big. :D

Thank you for this. Needed a ray of hope right now. I agree that they matchup better with Memphis than any of the other 4 big teams. I hate playing them again in Memphis, but hopefully the crowd factor won't be as big as it usually is with Ville and Cincy fans in the house.

Memphis actually played well against us both games. They have struggled most of the season from 3, but shot it well against us both times. We won because Daniels had a huge first game, and Shabazz a huge 2nd game. Watching Memphis play on Thursday night...they really do give up a lot of dribble penetration.

Will be interesting to see how UConn responds after getting blown out today.

If you want to hang your hat on advancing in March scoring around 50 points a game and holding teams in the 40's go right ahead.

Ollie "I told the guys, if we play like this we got two games left and we can go on spring break" #uconnmen

The good news is based on what I'm seeing the only 2 teams we need to totally avoid in the tournament are Florida and Louisville.
