Cicero-North Syracuse girls basketball team advances to semifinals of Nike Tournament in Phoenix

Bree had 33 points and apparently terrorized the Dr. Phillips girls on defense.

The Cicero-North Syracuse girls basketball team is proving to be a formidable foe at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.
Less than 24 hours after knocking off the nation’s No. 1 team, the Northstars cruised to a 48-28 victory over Dr. Phillips (Fla.) in the TOC quarterfinals, snapping the Panthers’ 28-game winning streak.
Dr. Phillips shot just 13 percent for the game.
C-NS (4-0) used a 17-0 run in the second quarter to open a 27-16 halftime lead. The Northstars then closed the third quarter with an 10-0 burst to take a commanding 46-25 lead.
The Northstars face Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.

I posted previously that some players have become legendary at the TOC. They include Tina, Maya, and Elena. Breanna may be outdoing her predecessors. Wow! Congrats to Cicero-North!

This is two more games than the "experts" said they would win. One guy posted this morning that he had advised the tournament NOT to put Cicero in the top division because there was no way they could compete. He admitted he was stupid. Now he's stupid X 2.

Buford and Kaela Davis lost to Mater Dei by 13 in the first round:

Buford lost by 31 today. My guess is that Davis was sick and did not play.

Regarding the Cicero-North game, Dr. Phillips is ranked 4 by USA Today and 22 by HoopGurlz. They won a game by the score of 78-5 last week. They are an outstanding team that just got obliterated by Breanna and her teammates. Extremely impressive. Keep it going!
