I really don't understand these lists. Owusu, Morris, and Evans are point guards not scoring guards....did their coaches submit them for this list in order to avoid competing with Paige on the Lieberman list?

So...who are the PGs for Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, Louisville and Maryland? I'm so confused.

Nicole Cardaño-Hillary is just a bizarre choice. Has played in 11 games for Indiana (starting four) and is averaging 6.0 PPG (36.6 FG%, 25.0 3FG%), good for sixth on the team.

I copied this from another thread regarding the Lieberman and Paige:
There has been a lot of misinformation within the last couple of post regarding how the WBCA positions work.
Here are the facts: WBCA sponsors (5) position awards 1) Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award 2) Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award 3) Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award 4) Katrina McClain Power Forward Award and 5) Lisa Leslie Center Award.
At the beginning of the season a watch list of 20 players is created by nominations from the coaches. A player CANNOT appear on more than 1 watch list at a time. Through the season the list is narrowed down first 10 then to 5 ? before a winner for each award is selected. Very unlikely that a player plays their way on to the list but it does happen. The key to nominations are the coaches advocating for their players-not fan, not the press, not some AD-Just Coaches. An example of good advocacy is Kim Mulkey this season. When Kim realized that Didi Richards was going to be her starting PG she petitioned for Didi to be added to the Liberman watch list and Kim was successful. Now You know and I know that Didi is not a PG but that not the point. The point is to win one of these awards you need your coach to first nominate you and then advocate by getting some other coaches to vote for you. Yes you read that correctly-Not only do coaches nominate the COACHES ALSO VOTE on these awards.

That's because she didn't make it. I don't know why the OP has her on it. Because Guirantes made the cut .

I can only assume that is an award for making layups.

The coaches making the nominations has been pointed out before. It still doesn't change the fact that many players are nominated for the wrong position.

So coaches are nominating these players in the wrong position-in your opinion?

Absolutely. I can't explain it, but somehow they don't seem to know what position their own players play I guess. Just look at this list. Like I asked earlier in the thread, if McDonald, Osborne, Owusu, Evans and K. Williams aren't the PGs for their teams, who is? Nobody, I guess none of them have a PG.

I have a hard time knocking a coach for nominating one of his players for a major NATIONAL position award because you believe the position designation to be incorrect.

Just nominate them for the correct position. Most of them would still be in the running.

You know it's not just me. Every year when these nominations come out, multiple posters point out that some of those players really don't play the position of the category they got nominated for. The whole thing is just very strange on a yearly basis.
