Christyn vs ND 2.JPG

In her last 4 games, Christyn Williams is shooting 65.9% from the field (31-47). That average actually improves if you look at just her accuracy from three-point range. From beyond the arc, she is 10-15 or 66.7%. And she saved her best game for UConn's biggest game, scoring 28 points on #1 Notre Dame and schooling Arike Ogunbowale all night long.

For the season, Christyn's overall shooting average falls all the way to 61.4% (43-70). That is tops on the team for starters, as is her season total from 3 point range at 52% (13-25). Does this kid know she's only a freshman? ;) Remarkably, Christyn leads the team in minutes played at 265 or 33.1 per game. She also leads the team in steals with 10 and is low for the starters with only 8 turnovers.

William's 110 points average out to 13.8 per game, same as her backcourt mate, Crystal. Together, these two are quietly becoming the best guard tandem in women's college basketball. Well, maybe not so quietly with the show they put on Sunday on ESPN. ;)

As good as Christyn has been, Geno says she will only get better. UConn fans can't wait..!!

Go Huskies..!!

And in her postgame interview with Holly Rowe, she came across so well and carried herself with class in an arena where that was in short supply. Another credit to the UConn program.

Hope she is referring to Paige and/or Hailey like that at some point.

CW carrys a winning attitude and its contagious. We have the Big 3 it may be the Big 4. One thing about attitiudes. A good attitude is that of a winner and a bad attitude is that of a looser. There are 2 types of people in the world...those who think they can and those who think they cant .... and theyre both right.

Squeaks does not act as a freshman. She has a high level of maturity. What I enjoy most is how she has let the game come to her. She has not forced her game. That is confidence. Her performance against ND was a thing of beauty. She knew she could drive the lane and did.

CWill has the potential to be the BEST scorer ever to play at UConn!!! She may never impact the game in as many ways as Taurasi. Moore, or Stewie did , but she could be the most prolific scorer ever at UConn. She is just so versatile and can score in so many ways. Run outs on the break? Check. Spot up 3 pt jump shots? Check. Off the bounce in 1 on 1 iso sets? Check. Creating her own shot and open looks? Check. Back to the basket post ups on smaller defenders? Check. Great mid-range game? Check. She can literally do it ALL!

Even better than Maya? The great Stewie and DT fell far short of Maya in terms of scoring.

Geno said at the ND half-time that Cwill should have been given the ball more in the 2nd quarter. Let's imagine that CWill becomes the lead Husky (we all see the head & heart of a champion-Geno more than us.) Pheese just keeps motoring at 110% and does her double-double thing, Lou scores big or contributes everywhere (like the ND first half), Danger scores when necessary, Megan gives a basic 12 and 8 every game, ONO comes in and does her Stokes imitation with some rebounds and a little scoring. Not only can all five starters score inside and outside, but the UConn way says that you can contribute in multiple ways each game (and more when the shot is off.) Danger is now your 4th option and Megan is the 5th---WOW!

If this year's team stays healthy and continues to improve, which they will, their offensive firepower will be downright scary. Not a single weak position, and faster and more athletic than Notre Dame.

Christyn is another special player. She is a freshmen that plays above her level. I love watching her play. Christyn and Crystal are a dynamic duo. Christyn confidence is out of this world.
