Christyn will hit the road once again with her 3x3 squad, this time they are headed to Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Also, a new face to the team as Michaela Onyenwere replaces Charli Collier.

Go get after it, Christyn!

Oneyenwere skills are far better suited to a 3x3 team than Collier was. Collier is a good player for a regulation full court 5x5 game but as a tweener she was a combination of not fast enough or tall enough for 3x3. This move increases their chances considerable.

Why the replacement? Is Collier injured?

6’5” isn’t tall enough?

Tell me: is this young lady going to be ready to play in November or is she going to be exhausted?

In Texas's team picture she is standing next to a player who is listed as 6'3" and there is another player listed as 6'4" standing one player away from her. Using the straight line of the backboard as a gage, the 6'4" player looks taller than Collier. Collier looks a slight bit taller than the 6'3" player listed player standing next to her. Collier appears to be a height between the two. She is not 6'5". If you have been following basketball for any length of time, you must realize that a lot of players fudge on their listed height to fool evaluators. Who knows if the heights listed for her teammates are even correct. Most players when the fudge always list themselves as taller. Besides that, the top of the head really means very little. What counts is their standing reach.

That having been said, watching the 3x3 games she certainly did not play like she was 6'5" under the basket. like Princeton's Bella Alari who is only listed as 6'4". Now Alari was dominant in the post. Colier mostly played on the perimeter. Even offense aside Collier did not defend the paint as Alari did and she was not quick enough to defend against perimeter players. She needed either to be quicker or taller.

I beg to differ with you “Willtalk”. I’ve watched plenty games during the early mornings when Charli played in China and Italy. Those 25-30 yr old women shoot 3’s. Charli played post mostly bc of christyn and Alea. I wish she’d play more outside bc she can shoot. But it’s USA and positions are played accordingly! Point wise she contributed tremendously. Go back and check the box. She did great inside defending. Not sure what you are referring too. Also led in rebounding too. And at times in mixups I saw her block several 3’s. You are so amped on the “tall girl”. Who
cares! She was chosen by USA because she brings it for the team. Don’t underestimate her strength either.

There are 6 girls in this team . Only 4 will go at a time. France is up next and she’ll be there!

Go USA!

She did not play mostly on the perimeter. Its 3x3... they rotate out and will be in all positions but mostly a big replaces a big!
Now I wish to see her play on the perimeter bc a couple of those 3 balls were blocked by her!

You really seem to know so much but very inaccurate with your RESEARCH! Have you actually measured these heights are you just believe it’s fudged! Get this...., it’s pretty possible for her height.

No she’s not! There are 4 players out of the 6 who are chosen to travel at certain times.
Sabrina from Oregon could not travel due to “whatever”. That is why Christyn and Aleah have been going to all so far. There are other tournaments as well before school starts. This is the world 3x3.... not pan am.

Christyn apparently did not play in their first game, a 15-11 win over Romania:

She did play in a 21-9 loss to Russia:

They will play France tomorrow, but will have a hard finishing anything other than third in their group.
I “thought” this was an age group thing... but the Russian that did the most damage is a 28 years old professional.

Yes, this is the full 3x3 national team series so there are no restrictions, but college players are the most willing and able among American players. Russia was hosting so they had a strong team, including two players who just finished playing on their team in EuroBasket. Most of the teams are either fielding whatever strong pros are available or playing people who have extensive experience in this format.

Great experience for USA college players. I love the 3v3 game, as there is often 3v3 inside of the 5v5 game in college. This 3v3 game is going to benefit these players and their college teams next season.
