But, in all honesty, the move makes sense. Better league, better pay, better situation (only 4 players returning to an awful UNLV team), and he moves closer to his 3 daughters.

College hoops is more fun when UNLV & Georgetown are good -- they are both fun to hate. I hope both programs straighten their s*** out over the next couple years and become something close to what they used to be.

plus dude had to sit and watch a meeting in which members of UNLV's board of regents didn't all approve of his hiring. a 9-4 vote wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

Has this ever happened before? Awkward situation.

If a kid signed an LOI, would he be allowed to back out and choose a different school two weeks later? Horsespit.

For his sake I hope he succeeds in Lubbock because his rep is shot.

These are the players that UNLV is losing:

NBA: Zimmerman (10.5 pts), Derrick Jones, Jr. (11.5 pts), Patrick McCaw (14.7 pts), Chris Obekpa

Transfer: Dwayne Morgan (5.5 pts), Jordan Cornish (6.2 pts), Ben Carter (8.6 pts)

Graduation: Jerome Seagers (10.3 pts), Ikw Nwamu (11.4 pts)

And I imagine they'll lose both Jaylen Fisher (hopefully to Memphis) and Justin Jackson, two of their 3 incoming recruits.

It's happened before and no one gives a flying f--- if UNLV is good or not.

Their athletic department is a train wreck right now - one week, two weeks or ten years, Beard made the right call.

So Beard's buyout at UNLV is $1m and Tubby's was $900k at TT. UNLV up $100k from where they were 2 weeks ago. Maybe they can afford Cronin now ;)

Lol @ George Karl, a major rebuilding job for a coach who basically took the year off and barely budged from his seat the entire NBA season. UNLV would be nuts to hire that dude.

George Karl is the perfect coach for Las Vegas, he already looks like the sleazy mob guy who would off some card-counting blackjack player for a casino

If Karl gets hired by UNLV, they might as well move to the AAC, which seems to be the land of defunct NBA coaches now with Brown and Dunleavy (and Sampson for that matter even though he never got an HC job in the NBA).

George Karl was also interested in the Uconn job back in the day. Ended up hiring some Calhoun guy.
And, from what I recall hearing, he never got over his bitterness. He was never a friend of UConn or any player from UConn based on some stuff I heard.

What is the big story here? This is routine. A guy spends two weeks in Vegas and drops a million. Isn't this why they built the place?

And the obvious: he was Ass HC for 10 years there. So there's a lot of familiarity (on both sides) and stability.
