The more posts of yours that I read, the less I understand your position. If "Nurse is clearly a better defender and more fearless", (also a better shooter, look up the stats) and you "have no problems with the move" then why the vitriol ("Geno already destroyed her psyche.") directed at the coach ?
If you agree that Nurse is a better player and you don't have a problem with the move, why would Geno need an "excuse" to take her out of the starting line up ? Wouldn't he be doing a disservice to the rest of the team by leaving her in the starting lineup ?
In defense of hoop dreams, not that I agree with his position (not having any inside info to substantiate his serious accusation)...
Nurse being a better choice does not exclude the possibility of Geno's having "destroyed her psyche."
Your assertion is not logically sound.

Are you saying that Geno taking Saniya out of the starting lineup for Kia Nurse , a bigger and better defensive player, which resulted in a National Championship , was a mistake ?Geno already destroyed her psyche. She's too far gone now. Best player on floor against Stanford and benched because he never really wanted her to start. Let's keep it real. She's just going to enjoy her college life at Uconn as she loves the university. She's accepted the fact that she was in an uphill battle after the Stanford game last season. Lines were drawn.
And since you are so fond of worrying about the players psyches (and they are all probably tougher than any of us except Kib), you do not surprise me either. Kia being a better choice has nothing to do with an unfounded and baseless assumption that Ms. Chong's psyche was destroyed.
psyche is similar to "confidence" IMO... I dont care for "lack of confidence" as wellAnd since you are so fond of worrying about the players psyches (and they are all probably tougher than any of us except Kib), you do not surprise me either. Kia being a better choice has nothing to do with an unfounded and baseless assumption that Ms. Chong's psyche was destroyed. If anyone can provide a quote from her or the coaches or even a respected member of the Horde, about Saniya's metal health, okay. Until then, it is a nasty, horrid accusation and we should all have nothing to do with it. In other words, why are you encouraging hoopdreams? "Does not exclude the possibility?" BAH!
you think that made the difference in winning the championship? Are you saying that Geno taking Saniya out of the starting lineup for Kia Nurse , a bigger and better defensive player, which resulted in a National Championship , was a mistake ?
I certainly don't think it hurt. And apparently Geno thought it would help because he not only made the move but stuck with it. He took out a 20 point scorer and out of all the players he could have put in , he chose Nurse. So yes, I think it made a big difference at the time.you think that made the difference in winning the championship?
Chong would have been fine... after the Stanford game UConn basically faced AAC teams. Not to take anything from Nurse but anyone could shine against them. Look at Gabby, tore up the AAC but when the tourney came around (Final Four) was basically MIAI certainly don't think it hurt. And apparently Geno thought it would help because he not only made the move but stuck with it. He took out a 20 point scorer and out of all the players he could have put in , he chose Nurse. HGN - I agree that the move did make a difference. Without Nurse starting - Loss to Stanford; With Nurse-- NC. Nurse was the 5th cog in the wheel and then there was symmetry, chemistry and flow.I certainly don't think it hurt. And apparently Geno thought it would help because he not only made the move but stuck with it. He took out a 20 point scorer and out of all the players he could have put in , he chose Nurse. Kiah Stokes was removed as a starter also. The bottom line is Geno wanted Nurse to win the starting job all along, so let's stop the nonsense. Chong has very little margin for error. He threw Chong under the bus after the Stanford game. Nobody else but Chong.

Why you continue to go down this path is completely baffling to me. In your own post earlier in this thread you state " I have no problems with the move, as Nurse is clearly a better defender and more fearless." It would be difficult to argue that Nurse is not also a better offensive player. So, you don't have a problem with the move and admit Nurse is a better defender yet you describe it as " He threw Chong under the bus after the Stanford game ". It just doesn't make sense. The only explanation I can come up with is that you have a personal relationship with either Chong, her family or both and it has become more of a personal/emotional issue for you.
The only nonsense on this board is being posted by you. Please show us where he threw Saniya under the bus. Here are some comments from Geno following the loss to Stanford:The bottom line is Geno wanted Nurse to win the starting job all along, so let's stop the nonsense. Hoopdreams, I respectfully disagree.............Geno started Chong at Stanford because that's who he wanted to start , and who he felt had 'earned' the start during pre-season. Remember , Geno had praised Chong all through preseason. And he NEVER threw Chong , or any player , under the bus. Or any other bus for that matter. But by starting Nurse , he put Chong , Stokes , and the rest of the Team ON the bus , not under , to a National Championship. The bottom line is Geno wanted Nurse to win the starting job all along, so let's stop the nonsense.
