Apologize for the delay, for some reason I had trouble accessing website.

Hurley is the best close game coach in college basketball. Now that we have reached that conclusion, it is ok for UConn to win by 20+?

Reed (19 pts, 89% FG% but 33% FT) and Reibe (14 pts, 100% FG, 8 Rebounds) carried us up front and Smith (4-4 from 3pt, 7 assists) and Demary ( 15 pts, 6 assists) carried us in the backcourt.

Karaban and Ball had some big plays late but combine for 8 of 32 FG attempts or 25%, which is difficult to translate into a 20 point win. Although, Alex was our leading rebounder with 9 and tied Smith for the lead in assists with 7. Once again displaying leadership.

Brian O’Connell makes it about himself again in a game with 59 foul shots. UConn only going for 64% including 3-9 from Reed did not help.

PC’s Jones is a heck of a freshman repeatedly beating us to the basket on drives yet going 3-3 from 3pt and 4-4 from FT. Twenty points altogether. What can’t he do?

While Ross and Stewart combined for 2 points in 25 minutes. Ross’s defense appeared intense. However, since the last game they lost minutes to Smith and Reibe (combined for 26 points in 51 minutes).

While we led our opponent in assists (23 to 10), we don’t always utilize good judgement on who to get the ball to based on who has the hot hand. How do two guys (Karaban/Ball) go 8/32 ) 32% FG but (Reed/Reibe) go 14/15 93% FG, yet get less than 1/2 the shots. True, Reed FT shooting is poor and Karaban/Ball made big plays at end, but is that’s how a 20 point lead fails to develop?

I've come to the conclusion that this team is just not capable of blowing a team out. Heck, even earlier in the season vs the cupcakes, some of the scores were a little closer then you would imagine.

Vs New Haven (Net 329) MOV: 24
vs. Bryant (Net 346) MOV: 23
vs E. Texas A&M (Net 288) MOV: 24

IMO, I would expect the number 2 team in the country to win each of these games by 40+.

This team could beat anyone in the country, they could also lose to an under-seeded 8/9 in the 1st weekend. I would be nervous seeing a Georgia, Texas A&M, or Auburn team in the round of 32. Wouldn't feel comfortable at all.

Always be aware of preseason “depth” chatter. That most happens when there’s not enough space between starter stars and bench players. A bad thing not a good thing. But, we are 20-1 playing a tough schedule with one or two starters out multiple games.

Can't argue with that, I may just be grasping at straws. I just want to to see us beat down a BE team by 25+ once this season.
Creighton just got their doors blown off by a bad Marquette team, but man am I expecting the worst on Saturday in Omaha.

Make this team take 1000 foul shots; and create a scenario where they matter. Not good that every game watches this team struggle to close out games from line. Some percentages are embarrassing. This will doom us in march

Coach Calhoun used to say good foul shooting is often about who is taking the foul shot and as usual he was often right.
However, this team lately even when we think we have the right guy at the line we have issues.

.-.
As I watched the game, I just wanted the next practice to be free throws only for everyone but Solo. I only want Solo doing wrist rehab or rest. We need to get that wrist right!

I expected Stewart to have big game getting the start. He is always thinking pass first and gives up open shots. Instead, he throws the ball away because the person he is intending the pass probably thought like I did that he should shoot the ball and was looking at the rim for the rebound. Frustrating but nice Malachi had a good shooting day despite the missed layup and FT. Eventually they will get it together and beat some team badly. But will take these close wins if it means we get the 7th Natty.

The reason a lot of our games are close is that we get very few easy baskets. We win the rebounding margin most games yet continue to walk the ball up the court and run our sets taking 30 seconds per possession. I really wish Hurley would let this team run more. We have the athletes and it would translate to easier baskets and more free throw attempts.

From my POV:
1. We finally got some quality bench points.
2. Yes we can win closely contested games.
3. I don't understand PC's overall record. They have some quality players.
4. There was a 4 to 5 minute span in the first half where SD took over and made some great penetration ( which is rare for our team) but he then stopped doing it. He is a very unselfish player.
5. SB's left wrist is definitely bothering him. Unfortunately I think it is something he will have to live with for the rest of the season.
6. I love JS and JR but they are not and probably will not look for their shot.
7. I have never complained about the officiating. For the game, I will rate them a C -.
8. My friends at work who don't follow the huskies, ask me "why are they not blowing out teams in the big east?" I tell them that they are ranked 2nd and are 20-1.

Is PC the best 2-8 BE team in history? Seems hard to argue when it’s a down year for the conference with 2 ranked teams and 3 projected bids but here we are.

Chief, help me out here. I too have had trouble accessing this website at times when it asks for verification, and passwords don’t work and they ask for 2 step verification. When that happens I can’t get on. Recently that went away and my passwords worked (obviously). Is there a tech person to contact here directly to avoid that in the future or help out ? Thanks.

I actually think guys like Furphy are good enough to play. But going 10-11 deep just ruins the rhythm for everyone. Hurley will always have basically an 8 man rotation with a possible 9th.

With me somehow it was a Privacy Setting which may have been related to a recent iPhone update. But, I am not sure - I tried a bunch of stuff and it finally worked but I don’t know what made it work nor what the issue was. Tom would be the guy to contact about the BY website, I would think,

Seems fine now but way to contact him if not on the site?

This is a great point. We didnt blow out UNH, Bryant, etc, but after that we went on to beat Illinois, BYU, Kansas, and Florida…and looked pretty good doing it. Who knows where we would be right now If the Big East was as strong as it usually is? I still think the problem is more mental from the point of view they are coasting through the weak conference schedule.

Yet we were over 80 and seemed impossible watching it all.
