Arkansas’ arguably best long-range shooter (Trevon Brazile, albeit in a small sample size) hasn’t played since the final week of December. Their best shooter by percentage (Joseph Pinion) hasn’t played more than 7 minutes since January and their best shooter who plays meaningful minutes (Davonte Davis) is under 35% from range. The rest of the team is a combined 29.3% from 3.

For a team as poor shooting from the outside as Arkansas, there is little reason to utilize a hedge to defend picks when an opponent rolls 80% of the time and misses their pops. That's good coaching.

They had a couple moments, but Arkansas' defense was by and large categorically awful. It didn't help them that they had no answer for Sanogo in the first half and the air completely came out of Arkansas' sails after Clingan's block with 4:30 to go in the first half. That was the point when Arkansas realized they were not going to get to the rim with any ease.

It was actually a double entendre. Our fan base picked up on the sarcasm re BE officiating, while the guys watching with me heard a plug for the strength of the conference.
It is the former not the later in Danny’s mind.

Satisfied with the game and players except for Andre running through the Arkansas defender and getting the technical. Thankfully, only 1 free throw was made. This was during the time when UConn had a hard time throwing the ball in and their lead of 29 was decreased by 9 or 10.

Imagine if UConn cut down their turnovers and made more free throws? They could have won by 30 plus.
Bah. That was as much a flop as it was an egregious dead ball technical

In real time, it looked like to me like aggressive forearm to chest. Fortunately, it didn't affect the game but at the moment I was afraid that it would affect the outcome.

I didn't like seeing it either. Total intimidation move, but it was equally unnecessary. The game was over except for the formality of zero, zero, zero. Arkansas can't shoot and UConn's bigs were living rent free in their heads.

The turnover number looked worse than it was. Every Arkansas steal was seemingly followed by a turnover of their own.

It was Andre telling Black that their little 9 pt run was cute but it was over. Necessary and effective.
It was Black, taking a cheap shot at Jackson with the full expectation that Jackson would retaliate and get caught. Happens all the time.

40 minutes to Houston!

Great first half doubling their rebounds (22 to 9) and shooting (61% to 33%). These trends continued throughout the game.

For the first time this season Adama played under the screen in the high hedge maybe because Arkansas is poor from 3. At halftime all starters had between 6 and 10 points. Sanogo dominated throughout the game.

Love the subtle shot Danny sent Big East’s Val Ackerman’s way going into halftime by saying UConn’s does well against national non conference opponents. So true and it shows the impact of unprofessional bias officiating! We are undefeated against some top national teams.

Sanogo was the monster we have come to expect with skillful offensive moves, rebounding and quick feet. Our two centers shot 84%, rebounded and blocked shots.

Still think Hurley is slow on the timeout, needs more stop momentum urgency in second half.

Karaban shot well and rebounded, Newton while not a pressure breaking pg, assisted and rebounded well and hit a couple of threes. Clingan gave Arkansas penetrators headaches and kept the show going when Adama goes to the bench.

Having said that we rained threes as Hawkins shined. Very happy with Alleyne the last several games. Was perfect from the FT, scored a few hoops and made good decisions with the ball and played solid defense.

Andre played great, found the open man, slipped through for baseline dunks. An untold story is how much his dribbling had improved. I do think sometimes with all his great moves he takes his eyes off the rim on drives. Not sure why, since you don’t get extra points for degree of difficulty. His defense was outstanding.

We are closing better but still make foolish fouls but we’re saved by Arkansas missing front ends of 1 on 1’s. Give Arkansas credit for not quiting.

NEXT UP!
You just don't get it Chief.
Val is setting up the media. They will now write that UConn, only the fourth best team in the league, is mowing down the opponents............just an indication of how strong the league is.

It was absolutely a reminder that the Big East officials screwed us. He’s defensive about it because he felt we were good the whole time and the refs stole our mojo. He faced a lot of criticism during the slump. Frankly, it was pretty bad. At the same time, it forced changes to our offense and defense that are paying big dividends now, so I’ll take it.
I believe this too. Remember how many foul shot PC took? The discrepancy in that game was insane.

We were saved by Arkansas missing four points from the foul line? I get nervous watching games even with big leads. But those fouls shots made zero difference.

Clingan fell off a bit in the second half but I love Hurley let him play and rested Adama.
A little drama in your post but yes in a twenty point game 8 points could have given them encouragement to overcome.

Can see a Red Fox celebration on the horizon..
Already in the works - bigger and better - working on two players - hope people support win or lose. Support of our players should never be conditional as long as they do things the right way.

Hurley deserves some credit for Alleyne's turnaround. He continued to put him out there and it paid off.

Also, Karaban was quietly impressive again. He and Jackson may have as high as a basketball IQ as any pair of teammates in the country. And most of the team seem to have pretty high B-ball IQ's as well. There was a missed shot and Karaban knew he couldn't pull the rebound down without going over the back so he tapped it to a teammate for the defensive rebound.

Finally, it's not a thing of beauty at times, but Newton has shut up a lot of his critics. He may not be getting to the line like his rep preceded his arrival suggested he would, but he hit some big 3's and had some nice assists and big rebounds as well.

Would love to see a Red Fox event with multiple players to celebrate the season. I unfortunately missed the last event with DC but made the prior with AJ.

AJ's play to end the first half of the 'Zaga game was off-the-chart smart. Seeing that Newton's pass wasn't going to make it to Sanago and getting to it in time to kick to Alex -- freakish play.
