being an old hippie, this one has always been a fav of mine; idealistic - you bet! doomed from the start - probably... but then again, weren't all of us filled with the balm of the times? (Rhetorical question - i was a diehard optimist then and fighting like hell not to be a flaming cynic now. Ahh, life! Simple, complex... i call it simplex.)

Mdoggie, I'm hoping that you are enjoying some really good listening. Great contributions so far and here's another. When I first heard this from Enya I thought it was one of her own songs, but found out it's from an opera The Bohemian Girl written in 1843. Many have sung it since, but of those I have listened to, Enya is still my fav. Enjoy.

 
I’m not huge fan of country music.
That said, I’ll post this somewhat forgotten classic from 1986.
Man, that chorus is just phenomenal!
