Change history. You decide

Say we win 21-14. Where are we today?
Possibly ACC, perhaps we'd have jumped Louisville. Not that i crave being in the ACC, but it would be nice to not always talk about UConn everytime realignment comes up.

Sox and Giant fan?? Odd combo

Miami. I was born in Florida. 17-0, only perfect record still stands. That was the only pro team in Florida at the time, so I defaulted to Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins (had a cousin play for the Bruins in the 70s).

The Sliders & Curveballs Podcast wants to rewrite history. A future episode in the works.

If you’d like to pick a UConn + a Pro game, go for it! Some of the better comments might be featured on a future show, heard by millions. Or thousands. Whose counting?

Tyus Edney doesn't make the last-second layup against Missouri in 1995.

College: Stanford vs Cal football 1982, but only if I was in the Stanford band, which I'm not, never was...

Pro: Any and all Dodgers wins.

Gimme that SB 25 win after Norwood makes the FG. The Giants are known forever for their master plan, but when Buffalo had the ball they destroyed the Giants. They couldn’t be stopped, only slowed down. That FG is the biggest football play of my life.

Other nominees: the 13 second failure in 2021; Braves game 3 vs Yankees in 1996 (should have gone up 3-0 and killed the Yankees, instead crumbled and lost 4 straight).

Patriots win 2011 SB and finish the season unbeaten

Wouldn't change any of Uconns games. Too afraid that would change the future negatively in some butterfly effect.
Not even 2009 BE Quarterfinals vs Cuse — the 6OTs? We could have won that one without too much reverberation hopefully.

This is absolutely my view. I do wonder about some bounces in those what if years (90,94,06,09) but we’ve also had some pretty insane luck more than balance all that out. I wouldn’t change a thing either.

Sox and a fish fan. This explains a lot. My ex’s family were that interesting combination too. lol

Even if Tate George knocks the ball down court instead of trying to gather it in 1990, UConn was not beating UNLV that year.

The 2006 team would have found a way to underperform in the Final Four if it beat George Mason.

Beating UCLA in 1995 would have led to a National Championship, and UCLA had to play a perfect game to beat the Huskies that year. That UConn team was good and playing well enough to win it all.

Correct on all points. I referenced 1990 because it was the dream season, it would have been the first trip to the Final Four, and it was Duke. The comparison that comes to mind is the Red Sox in 2004. Many Red Sox fans swore during the ALCS that if the comeback were completed to beat the Yankees, that fans would be thrilled with that and “die happy” regardless of what happened in the World Series against the Cardinals.

I honestly wish that the who had the ball go through his hands in the Bartman Cubs game was the one to touch it- not steve. He seemed way more karmically deserving of a lifetime of vitriol than that poor guy with the oversized headphones.

Not changing any game results. I got 6 men's bb and 4 World Series titles since 1999. The journey was perfect.

My alternative history for college:

Mark Emmert drinks bad moonshine at LSU's title celebration in 2003; becomes even more of a drooling idiot than he already was; and never gets the NCAA job.

For the pros:

Saint Derek Jeter's rampant PED abuse is finally made public right before his HOF eligibility, causing massive cognitive dissonance among Yankee fans who are certain that David Ortiz was on the juice.

Oh well.

Not a burning desire to change history, but I’d go with 2 players not getting hurt. Curtis Sumpter in 2005 and Justin Moore in 2022. Nova likely eliminates UNC in the 2005 EE at full strength, and has a good shot at Kansas in the 2022 FF. Both eventual champs.

Then I’d go with the ridiculous ruling keeping Omari Spellman out of the 2016-2017 season for his 8th grade switch to private school (while allowing Omar Yurtseven, a foreign pro player, he’s eligibility the same year). That denied Nova the 3 peat opportunity between the 2016 and 2018 titles.

A lot has to go right to win titles. I won’t go with a shot that could have gone in, rather players that could have played at full strength to have their teams at full strength.

As a Patriots fan I look at the low hit Pollard made on Tom Brady in week 1 of 2008 and the dirty low hit on Gronk in the 2011 AFC Championship Game. That Super Bowl would have been a lot different with a healthy Gronk. Health clearly plays a big role in outcomes. UConn fans know this well with Dyson in 2009. But injuries are part of the game. Sometimes teams are fortunate and stay healthy when other teams don’t, and sometimes they’re not as lucky. You have to be lucky and good to win.

For UConn it absolutely has to be the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. Considering all the success we've had with basketball, I'm content to not change a thing. A BCS bowl win would be redefining for the entire athletic department. Pro sports, 18-1 Pats v Giants super bowl or 2016 FA Cup final
