I know he isn't popular at Red Bank Catholic...and has had Zero impact in North jersey areas like Bergen County.Isn't he well liked by recruits in the NJ area? Me thinks that's why he's still here.. I pray he pans out there...
I had a moment of hope there...thought he was leaving for Arizona to coach baseball...oh well...
The Arizona D-backs...major league baseball...He's a hockey & lacrosse guy, not baseball.
i think this fanbase needs to stop reading things and think we are gold. when recruits do interviews they always have good things to say about said school, the coaches and everything. the only times u see recruits dump on places is when they have 20 other offers and they didn't like how things went at one place. we have never landed that type of 20 offer kid yet as a program or ever really gotten that interview either. what we see are rivals, scout and others give short interviews and storys. the recrutis say good things cafe food was good, coaches were nice we mad e aconnection, i lied the dorms and all that stuff. what do u want them to say? coaches were wierd, felt like grandpa was coaching me? they will never say things liek that, we are giving them a freaking scholarship. they are going to be nice and thankful becuase of the opportunity.
ppl read a couple sos articles over the past couple years and thought he was doing great. that was in no way to judge. if reading a few rivals articles is how u pick your coaching staff then your name must be warde manuel jr becuase u took the biat. recruits are always going to be positive with things becuase they are talking about a hundred thousand dollar piece of paper the school just put in there hands.
hey johnny, heard u isited uconn. how did it go? well the cafe food was good and i liked the facility they had. but the coaches were old and wierd. the wr coach which is the position they are recruiting me was a bit confusing, it was like he didn't lnow more than my hs coach. uconn is a good academic school and very nice in general, i will keep them on my list. thats not how these things go. here is how they go.
hey johnny, heard u visited uconn. how did it go? we got up there early, quick ride which was nice. we went to the cafe and breakfast was great. got to check out the practice facility, it was almost brand new, very cool. i was impressed and its defninetly something special. meeting witht he coaches went well. i talked with coach p for a bit. very nice guy, my dad loves him and i can see myself playing for him. i'm getting recruited as a wr so i talked to coach sos also. he was very positive about my future here at uconn and i was impressed with his knowledge of the game. i learned a lot about uconn and how great it was as a school academically. the campus is pretty and the ride isn't bad so my parents and friends can definetly see a few home games if i come here. uconn is on my list.
both kids ain't coming here. 1 was stright to the point, but u never see that in a recuit article becuase that site/blog/whatever wouldn't write that as they would look bad doing so. you only see the nice guy interview and man coach sos or who ever made a nice impression...
LMAO. You "proved" that the platitudes from recruits mean almost nothing (which I agree with), and then somehow used that to conclude that since the compliments don't mean anything 'Cos must suck. And, to top it off, FDNY applauded your remarkable leap of logic.
None of us have a clue whether any assistant coach is good or not. The fact that neither Edsall nor P has shown any inclination to get rid of the guy is by far the single most probative fact relating to his competence. but since it's not what you want to hear ....
And again, I'm not saying he's a good coach so don't just pretend that I did please.

And I don't know why he gets such a bad rap around here anyway. Not his fault he has been coaching in some of the absolute worst offensive regimes in college football over the last 6 years.
No, but it's debatable whether he's coached WR's yet, so it shouldn't be an issue.has he ever coached DB's?
Well by that metric he should make a fine db coach they drop balls all the time.Well our Wrs coach as a group must have led the country in drops like the last five years by percentage of throws to drops. Since he coaches wrs , then that is what I would judge him on. Verdict....... not good!

This board is my only distraction from little einsteins and bubble guppies after dinner. An oasis in the sand.I spent the last 45 minutes watching cartoons with my son, and putting him to bed. If i wasn't away from the computer, i would have beat you to that.
well played sir.

Other than Jimmy Bennett?
I agree about the interview comments, most of these kids are smart enough not to burn bridges. I have no idea how good of a recruiter coach SOS is, but I suspect he's a decent one since he's lasted this long as WR coach at a school that has been miserable at developing WRs for 10 years.
