Celts and draft

Before drafting anyone if I'm GM of Celts I try to steal Asik from Houston, even with the 17 pick.
Asik, Rhondo, Green, Sallinger, Stauskas? plus bench. Aren't you back in the playoff picture.
Wouldn't this team attract a major free agent?

might want to check your spelling on a few of those names, but I agree. Everyones talking about Love, but I think the better name to hunt after is Omer Asik because Houston has literally no need for him and he's a fully capable starting center who doesnt seek offense. To be honest, I hate the Heat, but the Heat could really use him. They don't need Melo, they need a big man to rebound and defend, cant win many titles with Bosh as your only big.

In terms of the Celtics, I think being able to steal Asik, and still get Love would shore up a very nice frontcourt. Need Asik since Love doesn't really play great D

Love has to be the first domino to fall. If the Celtics can't make a deal for Love, there's no point in getting Asik. Should just continue with the slow and steady rebuild at that point.

You would be giving up a lot. Obviously, both those guys have tremendous potential but they also have significant question marks.

Embiid broke a bone in his foot. Could be a major injury. He's probably out for the year and you're looking at a possible Bill Walton/Greg Oden situation.

So his value is not what it once was.

The Nets pick is in the 20s. Rondo's contract is a concern.

In fact, I would seriously doubt any team would take such a deal.

You're not attracting a major free agent by signing Omar Asik and drafting Stauskas. If I were Boston, I'd try to trade Rondo for an additional pick in the lottery, then package that in addition to the #6 and #17 picks to try to get Wiggins.

I see them taking Marcus smart unless they pull off some magic for embiid (Cleveland going 1->3 so philly can take wiggins, then 3->6 picking up legit assets with each trade)
