Kyla, Molly and Mikayla are incredibly hard workers, great kids, and supportive teammates. And fortunately the Jam's grueling schedule is an outlier because as much as I respect our bench players, depending upon them for significant, big game contributions, now or in March, may prove impracticable (though I hope not.)

UConns bench added 15 points from 2 players(others played but didnt score).
How other Top 25 teams benches helped out yesterday.
Notre Dame had 14 points from one player
Tennessee had 17 points from 4 players
NC State had 17 points from 3 players
DePaul had 16 points from 2 players
Oregon State had 11 points from 3 players
USF had 10 points from 3 players
Syracuse had a good game from its bench with 26 points from 4 players.

But the winner by far and way out of the statistic norm was South Carolina which had 59 points from 8 players. In fact the bench outscored East Tennessee 59-55. Now in this game none of the starters played more than 17 minutes.

Great statistical analysis. Thanks. It is comforting. Our points off the bench will be 90% from Olivia. The others : Mikayla and Kyla are assigned to be " place holders," at guard and forward, respectively. They will be opportunistic scorers ( open lay-up, fast break, rebound put-back ), but their job is to provide minutes, play defense and let the others on the floor run the offense. Batouly may yet be a wild card. She seems to be playing more aggressively and faster. And, she is comfortable hitting that mid-long range shot. The others are there for practice and mop-up time...and are not expected to do much. Lexi will take open shots ( a good thing ), but she has to start making them if she ever intends to play. Molly is Molly. A brilliant student, a hard-worker and a fantastic team mate.

“It’s huge,” junior Crystal Dangerfield said of the bench’s role. “We’re going to have tired legs, and the fact that we’re going to be in an area where it’s hot and we’re going to be at the beach and the pool and enjoying ourselves [makes you] more susceptible to being tired so it’s going to be everyone playing down there.”

It is huge, as Chrystal say. But I don't think we'll see any change from Geno. The starting 5 will play all of the first and at least 50% of the second, without substitution. Then, Olivia will enter.....followed by Mikayla as the half draws neigh. The starting 5 will play the third quarter. And the bench will start getting more minutes in the 4th quarter; first, two at a time; then three; then 5. Olivia will get more and more.
