Bazz #1

1. Shabazz Napier

UConn

G | 6-1 | Sr.

Why he's here: UConn's do-everything senior has been consistently terrific in a variety of ways. He's averaging a team-best 15.3 points, a team-best 7.0 rebounds and a team-best 5.9 assists for the undefeated Huskies, and he famously hit the game-winner against Florida. In other words, Napier is a statistically great player who is impacting winning for a nationally relevant team. That's enough to make him deserving of this spot.

Wow. Well, we all know he's #1 on that list.
Glad to see the rest of the world finally caught on...

Bazz has been outstanding this season and last season. He is very deserving of all american and player of the year consideration. There isn't a guard in the country I would rather have; he is that good.

Congrats to 'Bazz for the mid season recognition. Of course, I know he'd trade in any individual accolades for the trophy at the end of the year for a nice 6 game winning streak...

Who would be the second best PG in the country (Smart is a combo)?

Depends on who you are ruling out for being a combo. I'd say Jahii Carson from Arizona State, but he's a scorer first and passer second. Pangos from Gonzaga is a stud, but he's more of a combo with little Stockton next to him as more of a pure point. You'll get some votes here and there for Chaz Williams at UMass, Joe Jackson at Memphis or Aaron Craft. There's also a kid at LIU (named Brickman - an unfortunate surname for a basketball player) who is averaging 10 assists, which if he keeps that up, would put him in rare air in the college level. Last one to do that for a whole season was Avery Johnson (I think).

Perhaps the best 15 ppg player we've ever had. Which by the way makes him so awesome, he's not looking to put up gawdy numbers (20+) to enhance his profile, even though he easily could. So unselfish!
