Not a lot of love for our guys:

For some reason, I trust Dan and the staff's judgment more than these guys' opinion.

ESPN has Mahaney ranked at #18 and Tarris Reed Jr. at #37. Like you said, I trust the UConn coaching staff's evaluations a lot more. It's not just about rankings, that's important, but about fit and how the players' skills complement each other.

David Cobb's opinion or Danny Hurley and company's opinion? Hmmmmm.
Good point.
It's funny to look back at some of the now classic albums that were initially panned by a few critics. Then they go back and submit a 5* revision 30 years later.
It's hilarious to hear people talk about how valuable Cam, Newt and Hass were last year, "those guys are hard to find"
I don't know, seemed like pretty easy pickins at the time.
Hosers

Apropos of nothing, it is really weird that they chose to describe Reed's scoring with the spelling of the word "nine" instead of "9.0" to match the other stats.

247 has Mahaney at #17 & Reed at #69....more importantly they both filled needs on the roster.

Where was the guy that went to KU ranked?

And Spencer?

We land blue collar guys, with an occasional but rare 5*. And I don't want to change a thing

I mean, it’s just hard to be concerned about UConn right now. Back to back titles, I’m quite sure the staff can identify the players most able to help them win at the highest levels.

It is definitely a crapshoot. There are very good players throughout, some guys in the 60s will be better than top 10 guys. Like Pop Isaacs is 79.

It's been shown that fit is more important than these rankings of pure talent. Just look at last year's transfer rankings for proof.

Mahaney, like Spencer, is a really good fit for our offense.

Reed fills an obvious need and has a higher ceiling than his performance for dumpster-fire Michigan indicates.

I was looking at the rankings a couple days ago and whatever one I was looking at did not even have Brea ranked. I’m guessing Cam was ranked between 40-50 last year so I’m not sure these ranking mean much. It’s more about how well the transfers fit with their new team.

Would love to see what list or lists the coaching staff put together as "their" top 80 transfer recruits.

Anyone who watched Michigan games knows Reed is a project, so I won't blame the rankers for having him low. Our staff will turn him into a productive piece in time.

Literally the last player they ranked. Like they felt compelled to put him on there because he was a UConn commit. Should be good motivation for the big fella.

For what it's worth, Kobe Brea isn't even listed on the CBS Sports rankings.
