Wonder who's operating under cover on the Boneyard?

I mention this in the Maryland commitment thread (now on the 2nd page). UMD athletic department has been controlling their scout site for almost a year. Rachael Klein was hired, and she deleted anything negative about Frese. Although Edsall criticism was allowed. Klein remains, and Keith Cavanaugh is the new editor/owner of the site. KC has been paid by the booster club for over 15 years for his Terrapin Times newspaper.

Whitney Bays mom went on the site to vent about some things, then her daughters scholarship was not renewed. There were other reports about scholarships not being renewed. Then Frese got control of the board, if someone writes Brenda had a bad hair day it is deleted. Posters doubted me when I said Frese was controlling their board, I think this story corroborates it.

Yawn...snore. What do alumni and even non-alumni avid fans do? They write checks. Maryland is just doing what big business does (and for that matter political campaigns) in trying to shape the customer's perceptions of their product.

If the plan was to sway MD fans I can tell you it was an abismal failure. I know soooooo many MD fans here in central PA and in the Gettysburg area who are still ticked off and have stopped their alumni contributions and donations to the athletic department. We'll see how it is 5 years down the road but at the moment don't even mention to them. One of my parishioners almost ended up getting roughed up in a bar down the MD shore because he sent two guys wearing MD hats a round on him welcoming them to the Big Ten. They took it as an insult.

You'd be surprised by my bear rug disguise in front of a fireplace. It is a little lumpy any more but in my heyday it was impressive.

Maybe most people will yawn when they see this: I think it's very troubling.

Sure the "screen name" ethos in the virtual world may allow people to "speak their mind" but the downside outweighs the benefits (IMHO!)

So keep all of this in mind the next time you're on a message board and someone who clearly doesn't know nearly as much as you do has a differing opinion. They're probably working for the man.

So there seems to be lot of youse guys on here working for "the man".

I'm still waiting to see someone's opinion in here swayed.

Fairview, your use of the word "swayed" made me think of this movie..and, then, this scene - which (to me, anyway) bears (!) a striking resemblance to many a "discussion" here on our beloved Boneyard.
