CBK top programs right now

When I see this, I wonder what the a toy they mean by “right now?” How many of the past few seasons are we supposed to consider?
If it truly refers to now and not including say 3 years ago, I would up vote Louisville, BYU, St John’s, and downgrade Kansas, UNC, etc.

Who could they possibly put above UConn?
No one really but if you weighted it on consistent top 5 teams and 1 seeds over last 5 years, with an awesome coach, Houston.

If you take the Edey teams along with this years projection, making a lot out of a little annually, Painter and Purdue.

If you’re talking about a very young coach with lots of runway coming off the most recent title with a top 3 preseason ranked team, UF.

You take the brand, the recruiting and a young developing coach that seems to be kinda figuring it out, maybe Duke.

They generally got the top 6 nailed. I’d move UM and UK up this list now that Dusty and Pope have a year under their belt. BYU will be moving up this list too.

The top of the top programs have a recent title. Not just here, but everywhere I’m sick of analysts who put data above wins.

I’m with you, but you can frame out Houston with their KPs, territorizing the B12 and 1 seeds over a longer recent time period could make a claim, especially now that their recruiting is also shooting through the roof.

Danny hasn’t done much outside the two title years would be an argument.

We'll see. I'm not convinced. Surprised to even see them on here. What have they done the last few years? Made the NCAA Tournament 3 of the last 5 years. Three 6 seeds and 2 wins total (both in 2025). Before 2021 the last NCAA Tournament appearance was 2015. They've done basically squat besides recruit Dybantsa with a boat load of money. And that doesn't move the needle. You need to build up some equity to build off before you start having a well respected program.

The sad aspect of this list is that UConn and Duke never play. It feels like it’s been ages at this point (2014). 9x total/ever - one rando game in the 70’s, 4 of those games in the tourney. So since that 70s matchup through today UConn has only played Duke 4x in 49 years OOC, less than once a decade. UConn has never played in Cameron Indoor, sadly.

Would be so much better for the game if they had a chance to square up regularly.

Dan may make that happen soon (if they're willing)...

Ventured to Vegas in May (Kenny Chesney at the Sphere-incredible), the top three were Duke +900, Houston +1200 and our guys +1600. Laid it on our guys of course.

Duke being favorites is hilarious.
