If they think that peoples is leaving, maybe the education system is the problem. (UTA excluded.)

If you saw what the Texas State Board of Education think is the history of the Founding Fathers you would understand the problem.

People are not leaving Texas. In 2011, TX had the highest level of in-migration (190k). Only other state (FL) was >100k.
And, no, that wasn't all from immigration. More than 60% was transplants from other states.

And in-migration as a percentage of existing population was 4th highest in the country (behind DC, FL, ND).

Texas has a very pro-business environment, a low cost of living, and no state income taxes. This has been the impetus for much of the immigration. Or possibly the BBQ.

Doh, it was a joke. Peoples "are" leaving Texas, fact.

Here's a really interesting article from Gail Collins about Texas...I especially like the part about the frozen armadillo. My state is pretty weird.
