I wonder about that, too. I do think if she ever did want to, she could petition the NCAA for another year, and most likely in her case could probably get it.
She seems like a high IQ player and wonder if maybe coaching could be in her future as well.
Hopefully she is able to play next season and is completely healthy, because I think the scenario where the NCAA would grant her a sixth year would involve something unfortunate happening.

I had a very good feeling that she was going to play. If you looked when they showed the end of the bench you would see that she had her warm up pants off all game. She wore them every other game. Glad to see her on the floor playing with her family in attendance.

The fact that her parents flew in for the game was a pretty good indicator I think.

If she participates in Senior Day I think we'll have our answer as to what her plans are. She may already know basketball is not going to be her career which means moving on.
Exciting she played! Certainly, she was aware by playing today and on Senior Day she uses a full year of eligibility.

Who knows? If she is still interested in making a go of future hoops, then a full season at UConn would allow her to reestablish credentials. She and Azzi are buds. If they came back together to join the young core group, it would be great fun!

If not life goes on, and both are destined for bright futures!

Hard to forget the 2 weeks of Caro-linesanity! when she carried the injury depleted UConn team, operating in the old KLS shot seeking shooting guard role, even bagging a last minute game winner. I even saw a blurb at that time on SNY to tune in to see "Caroline DuCharme and the UConn Huskies!"

Will be fun to see how this all develops.

Missed the last 5 minutes of the game. How did she look. I can't imagine coming back after all this time and less than 6 weeks of practice and not looking like you had no idea what was going on. I am crying for her now while reading this news. I kept wondering would we ever hear the announcer scream "DuCharme for another 3, the Husky lead is now 7 with less than 5 seconds remaining. Championship number 12 (or 13) is on the way." But if we only get 1 or 2 minutes in the remaining games and she is smiling, that will be enough if she decides to retire. Anything for next year would be so unbelievable. She has worked so hard and put up with so much. Reminds me of Shea Ralph. And several others.

I only heard the announcers mention that her parents flew in for the game after Caroline entered the game. But she had hers sweat pants off throughout the game

To see this courageous young woman enter this game as a member of the mop up crew was extremely sad for me. Caroline, had it not been for all the injuries, could have been a UConn great. I hope the higher power keeps her safe, healthy and happy for the rest of her life.

I noticed the same thing!

We noticed that her black headband did not look like the one athletes wear to keep the hair back or to keep the sweat from dripping into the eyes. We thought it was there to help protect her head against any blows.

True courage lies not in the absence of fear, but in it’s conquest
Love it!!

Well, one of my predictions came true yesterday. Let's see if my others do. Perhaps I'll share them in April. :D
