Much more reachable for some of us...

I love seeing games at Gampel but the XL Center serves its purpose well for those of us in the southwest corner of the state.
Much more? Gampel is 25 minutes from the XL Center, with much less traffic.

I was able to see Caroline up close today, great seats. I was immediately impressed and a bit surprised at how tall Caroline is. She is right up there pretty close to Aaliyah and Ice in height. Much more slender.

Partially financial as they are required to play a certain number of games at the XL center. When the students are not on campus for classes, the XL center is more easily reachable for the non-student fans, so it makes sense to play some games closer to the fans.
Required by who? This is news to me.

That's an extra hour of driving, Boreif. At our ages, that's a factor.
I am 76 and I come from Albany. If the desire is there, it’s a small price to pay. I suspect no one would argue that the XL Center is a superior venue to Gampel. I personally would much prefer it if all the games were on campus; at my age, it’s nice not to have to wait to go to the bathroom.

How come you say it's an extra hour of driving, but when some complain it’s not fair to the team to put them on a bus from the campus to the XL, people say it’s only a 25 minute trip. Hmmm

I don't live anywhere near Ct so I have no skin in the game. My point is, isn't the point of having collegiate athletics for the campus/students ? If you have an on campus venue then use it, at least when the students are in session.

Round trip, CONN78SEJ, round trip.

More power to you, Boreifs. Or, said another way, to each her or his own...

Glad someone said it.

I guess you’ve never been stuck on Route 44 for half an hour trying to get to the game
Quite the contrary, I have been, but I tend not to be a complainer at the expense of the students and student athletes.

When my buddy and I had season tickets to The XL Center and Gampel From New London/Waterford we would arrive at least 2 hours before the game for a better Handicapped spot (to get out quickly) and to catch a snack with our buddies and get 1st in line!
At the end of the game we were on the road in 10 minutes or less!
And by-the-way, the State of CT forces UConn MBB & Wbb to play 1/2 their games at XL to help Hartford make money off the big crowds, otherwise NO-ONE would go to Hartford!

I love this: in fewer than 40 posts a thread about what is unfortunately an all too infrequent sighting of Caroline, of whom it seems every member of the Boneyard is a fan, has effortlessly segued into a rather passionate discussion about game day traffic on Route 44.

It was wonderful to see Azzi Ayanna, Jana (has been there), Caroline, and Aubrey at pregame and less Caroline through the game!
That's approximately 70 points sitting not able to play!
So sad!

yes.......not a bad little team.........really sad.........
Brings up an interesting scenario. Assuming all are fully healthy, who wins between our current starting five and our “injured” five? Of course, Paige is just too much weight on one side but it would be an interesting matchup? Size vs speed! Though, our current five would IMO obviously win, I’d be interested to see how Geno game planned for the “injured” team. Could he (and the team) keep it close? Aubrey, Jana, & Yanna would be a load down low and Azzi & Caroline would bombs away from outside.
