This is the sort of news where I'm not sure if I'm happy to hear it. Obviously want her to get back to 100 percent ASAP. But I'm a little disbelieving that there's any universe where her longterm wellbeing involves stepping foot on the court the rest of the season...
 
For the last two decades, I've been actively involved in rugby as a player, referee and coach, in both local and international level. I've had two diagnosed concussions - unfortunately during the time when there wasn't much discussion around head injuries.
All this fancy intro to say - there is a very, very slow and clear return to play protocol for concussions, and looking at the time only frame, it seemed to me like all precautions are in place.
Some of the RTP protocol is also just doing easy stuff like warmups in a different surrounding - and of course if any regression in that players condition, you take a step back.
Personally, I'm happy for her she's where she's at now and if she ends up playing this season or at all, I'm sure it's a decision that will not be taken lightly. (btw - not all concussions lead to CTE... or long term effects. At least I hope so, but I'll report back in 20 years!)
 
Good to see her. On a side note did anyone notice the contraption on Westbeld after her return from concussion protocol?
 
It was nice to see “the band back together” with Azzi, Ayanna. Aubrey, Caroline and, of course Jana during the pregame warmups. Don’t quote me but it Looked like Gampel was sold out! The student section was filled early and went bonkers when Kate Clarke missed 2 free throws which allows for 50 Free sandwich wraps!

I was there, and it was, indeed, sold out, packed, loud and proud. The student section is always crazy...but when they win those wraps, it's epic!
 
What goes into the decision on where the home games are played ? To me it seems that the atmosphere a Gampel is a tick above what it is at the XL center. Is it strictly financial ?

Partially financial as they are required to play a certain number of games at the XL center. When the students are not on campus for classes, the XL center is more easily reachable for the non-student fans, so it makes sense to play some games closer to the fans.

Much more reachable for some of us...

I love seeing games at Gampel but the XL Center serves its purpose well for those of us in the southwest corner of the state.
