Seems like a whole lotta nothing, especially as alcohol was NOT a factor AND the other two individuals were not named. . . But that's the price of fame, I'm afraid.

Excessive noise and door banging in a hallway? In a college dorm? And that is newsworthy of mention, or even of police action? I remember my college days - a long time ago, but not so long ago that I don't remember how noisy the dorms were. People coming and going at all hours of the night.

I wonder if they still have panty raids, or if that is a tradition from a bygone era?

They used to just call the RA when I went to school...my freshman year the RA was Bill Gibbons, who now coaches Holy Cross

time to penny someone in their room

for the younger people, we would push the bottom of a closed door with our legs, the door would bend a fraction of an inch, and we would insert a penny between the door, and the frame. The person could not open their door.

When you heard RA RA RA being screamed you knew what happened

Using a coca cola case to jam the lock achieved the same result. Great fun. As for panty raids, we of the 1960's warmed to the cry "let's go south" but that's when quadrangles were largely segregated by gender. Now,if a guy wants panties, he can either ask his girlfriend to leave hers behind, or knock on the room next door. All the fun is gone.

Now water fights were a wonderful and destructive diversion. In my dorm Trumbull House, we had the water flow from the top floor to the basement a few times in my illustrious career. One year, the day of the big UConn black out, not to be confused with the Northeast blackout, there was so much water flowing from the top of the Towers to the lower parking lot that the governor became aware of it. Nobody that I know of was ever arrested in these escapades. Of course, we didn't have the problems that the campus has now on Spring Weekend..

Yikes! Is this what college life has come to - cops involved when someone allegedly makes too much noise in a dorm. I fear for the future of common sense.

Having lived in a college dorm is the reason why I can sleep through anything still to this day. It makes me happy when my buddies (who lived at home during college) complain about how they can't sleep because the they heard a pin drop: suck it up, buttercup.

Bang Bang was banging on doors? Big whoop. At some schools if you don't get reported to campus security at least once per semester you're not allowed to graduate. :p

I doubt if anyone here knows what really happened but the facts are that she was cited for creating a disturbance at 2:15 AM in a dorm where she didn't live.

If nothing else, dumb comes immediately to mind.

Fond memories of snowball fights with 3,000 on each side.
I remember when one guy made the unfortunate decision to put his head down and ride his bike through the middle of one at high speed. Everyone turned and fired. It was like he was being hit by automatic weapons fire. He must have been hit by 50 snowballs in the space of 10 seconds.

Pretty funny.

Not smart on Caroline's part, but not a big deal. Students do that all the time.

Geno is not pleased. Nor is Chris or Shea likely to be, though Shea Dog probably raised a little hell in her time too.

All the girls on the team have been excessively loud at late hours. They live in Hilltop (at least they did last year when I was there) and you can barely hear things from apartment to apartment. Anyone who claims otherwise is just whining. I lived on a floor with guys from the Hockey team and they had some pretty loud parties at times. I was never kept awake by them and my bedroom was the closest to our door.

Bottom line...Hilltop is almost always loud and nobody cares. Should probably read the article though since I just realized someone said it wasn't her dorm. Either way, welcome to college. Deal with it.

- I would like to congratulate the Hartford Courant on this scoop - clearly their budget for investigative reporting is really paying off - and I for one, look forward to futher such gripping coverage of athletes' parking tickets, sleeping in class, and overdue library books!

There was a response to the piece that Doty wasn't playing in the Courant (If I remember correctly) that mentioned an alcohol-related incident as the reason for Doty's not playing. I ignored it at the time as mischief. The authorities may not consider the incident as alcohol-related as Doty is off age and the matter was not about driving; the two major concerns they have regarding drink.

Geno: “The decision that a 23-year-old makes to go trick-0r-treating is dumb. The stuff they are going to do is dumber."
Well, that explains the banging on doors and excessive noise. But, yeah, I agree with Geno. Trick or treating on November 1st is dumb!

#UConn 's Caroline Doty cited for creating public disturbance in dorm but said I"t wasn't anything really, I was just trick or treating."
If this was my last year in college, I think I might seek memorable experiences involving fun, pranks, pretending, you know, stuff that is not encouraged in the "real" world. Live it, girl!

My favorite dorm prank was to take a bucket/pitcher of water and lean it against the door. CREATE a disturbance in the hall so doors would fly open, and buckets full of water would pour in to rooms. This horrific mold allergy I have developed as an adult is probably my pay back. I wouldn't trade it though, fun stuff!

I remember this 'prank' being done with with a full trash can of water. It was like hurricane Sandy... in minature.

At UConn, yes.

The campus has become a police state since the fall of 2010.
