Nice work by Carl, as always. A very candid piece on this year's team and areas of improvement for the returning players.

Thanks pap49cba, great read. Doty used to be a sharpshooter. But since her injury she does shoot any more!! If she had a couple threes we would have won the game.

I think it's harder for Doty to get open because her knee limits the mobility she has to come off of screens, square up and shoot. That takes a lot of sharp cutting, which is the hardest thing to do after an ACL repair (not to mention three!)

She shoots but she's not as deadly as she once was. I have to believe that not getting the same lift off that knee has affected her shot.

It will be interesting to see what level of additional athleticism Caroline is able to recover by next fall. I would imagine a little bit, but probably not a whole lot. But just the additional confidence that she will have, being that much further removed from the injury time-wise, should count for something. That, and it being her last go-round.....

I think that Caroline's value next year won't be measured so much in minutes as in leadership. Out of the three remaining Huskies with Championship experience (CDoty, HB, KF) she is the best equipped to inculcate the frosh in the Winning Way. Kelly is getting more vocal, too, and will do her best work on the court and after games. Caroline more so all the time, like a fifth-year Honey Badger in the frosh's ears ;)

She can be a great stabilizing force in games and can still have brilliant moments (Duke). But her greatest value to the team going forward is the same stuff she will someday bring to bear as a coach. Moriah, in particular, stands to gain a lot from this one-year overlap with Caroline.

I see Caroline as more skilled version of Pam Webber. She will continue to start and provide steady leadership/ballhandling. But she won't be as talented as some of the folks on the bench and will give way late in key games.

You are spot on. Caroline will not only provide leadership that will be invaluable. She is also an example of perseverance in the face of adversity. It would probably be easier to move on and forego her last year of eligibility rather than having to work so hard to try to regain her pre-injury form - especially as she will have very stiff competition next year if she wants to retain a starting role. But you know that she will do her absolute best to come back and compete and contribute to the team's success any way she can. That shows heart and character.

"He compared the feeling he had Sunday night to that following the loss to Stanford in the 2008 national semifinals at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. UConn wouldn’t lose again for almost 1,000 days."

I think Bria, Stef, and Kaleena will be outstanding next year. Kelly will be able to play her best position and should dominate on defense. Kiah could develop into a real stud. And we have three hard-working scorers who also play great defense coming in.
