“He’s a great coach and he’s a runs a great program. He’s straight forward with you. The thing is that when he tells you something, you know you’re getting the truth.”

“I just really loved it,” Samuelson said. “It’s a great program and I really wanted to play for Coach Auriemma. I know that he can make me the best player that I can be.”

How can she turndown a world class education at Stanford or ND to attend at Cow College like UCONN?

Wait! I know. Could it be she wants to win multiple NC's, be an AA, and play at the next level for an extended period of time?

The girl must be crazy--like a fox!

She would be AA whereever she went, but for NCs and her personal development, it was a no-brainer.

I am fairly confident in saying she will be the first (and only) Samuelson girl who wins a N.C.

I know this is a sarcastic comment, but I do think UConn was able to get a commitment from Katie Lou and I thought UConn had a strong chance all along in large part because for her individually the education issue was significantly neutralized. Unlike her older sisters Katie Lou's post graduation career is almost certainly going to be professional basketball player. It's not a general Stanford education versus a UConn education on the scales then, it's a Stanford education versus the most prestigious program in the country for her future profession. Playing basketball and education aren't separate when basketball is the future career.

I actually think she'll be getting a world class education but it just won't have the same pizzazz in certain circles. Just as on the court, the opportunities are there to excel for those who have the desire!

Well, I just found out my ex-dormmate is now President of Tulane University. So, the sky's the limit. Also, I had friends in UConn's Honors program, which could match any education in the country, IMHO ( in my humble opinion.)

Just goes to show, an education is what you make of it, as long as you are going to a reasonably good school. I'm not suggesting you can accomplish as much if you're going to a third rate college or tech school!
