- UConn draws first blood as Reed hits a pair of FTs.
- Tarris has 8 of our first 10. But 8 minutes in, Duke is scoring virtually every time down the court.
- Why/how are we giving up so may rebounds? Pretty sure that Duke has more offensive boards than we have total boards.
- Reed on fire again.
- 8:16 to go in the half, and our 2 best 3 point shooters are 0 for too many to count.
- What may have been the worst foul call of the season on Reed securing an offensive rebound at 6:23 left in the half.
- Duke is now double teaming Tarris everytime he gets the ball.
- Half time -- These refs have to be all Duke grads. Duke called for 4 fouls in the half, We've been whistled for 10. Duke has taken 12 FTs to our 4.
- We have cut what was a 19 point deficit down to 15 at the end of the first half. Still a very daunting task., but at least we've stopped the bleeding.
- 2nd half, Tarris continues doing all he can to get us back into this. It's a shame that no-one else seems able to join him in fueling a comeback.
- 12 minute mark and our hole is under 10. We just might be able to do this.
- And we're within a bucket, 64-67 @ 3:42!
- 1:31 remaining, down 4 -- 66-70
- 3 points down, our ball, 27 seconds left.
- Demary gets fouled and makes one of two FTs to cut it to 2 points. 10 seconds left, Duke ball.
- Duke inbounds and their strategy seems to be to avoid getting fouled. Passing the ball before we can get a man on the guy with the ball. 3 passes in 4 seconds. Sorry Dukies,, but that was very questionable strategy.
- Demary gets a finger on the third pass, and gets the ball to Mullins, who dumps it to Alex, who has a defender closing on him and swings it right back to Mullins, nearly 40 feet from the hoop.
- And the rest is history. Legendary history, at that. Mulllins just earned a permanent place in the Husky Hall of Fame for that game and season saving bucket. Obviously the singular moment of this season so far.
- Mullins game saver aside, I'd still vote for Tarris Reed as player of the game.
- We have now beaten Duke 4 times since that first championship back in 99. It's mojo baby!
- We led this game for all of 55 seconds. 51 following our first score and 4 following our last score.
