On the topic of coach departures midseason, it appears that the Indiana State coach was forced to resign due to poor team performance:

Wells resigns as ISU women’s basketball coach after 2-11 start

"After meeting with him this morning Joey Wells has submitted his resignation as head women's basketball coach," Clinkscales said. "The team's competitive performance over the past three years and specifically its performance over the last year and half have not shown the progress that either Coach Wells or I had hoped. ..."

Being seriously out of shape doesn’t mean you’re not talented. The right coach can help change that work ethic.

A good coach would whip her ass into shape. Nd, quite frankly, she is of average talent.

Well for one, I was saying with a good coach these kids would do better. 2, define average talent. She’s probably way above average of ALL the post players in the NCAA. Not fair to judge her as average because you’re a Baylor fan. No way Louisville would have recruited her otherwise.

I am not "judging" her because I am a Baylor fan. I am saying that my fairly trained eye says that she was vastly overrated. What does it say that she is from Waco and Mulkey did not recruit her?

Swoopes may perform better and deal with the players much better with the guidance of Marsha Sharp.
I seriously doubt Tech, despite the love of Sheryl, would want to take on that toxic personality as a coach-did you see the allegations at Loyola-wow, it's bad that no assistant should have to try to control. Swoopes time as a coach have come and gone. As a player and HOFer yes, as coach absolutely not...

Being in Lubbock has a way of changing you; you become "southern nice." And, isn't she a coach at TTU? She was recently promoted to the position of Assistant Coach, so her days of coaching have not come and gone.

Holy crap, I didn't realize Swoopes was already an assistant. What the heck is that administration thinking??? Thanks and what a disaster. DeGrate isn't the only one out of shape on that team. In fact, you can look around at some other P5 programs and see some seriously out of shape players. Your own Ms. Brown was a tad out of shape her freshman year and did a serious makeover. Personally, I think she's better than McCowan and deserving of 1st team AA talk. Not that I am saying McCowan isn't very good, just I think Kalani is better. We shall see in the Texas game....

I agree about Brown being better than McCowan, but it is a thin line (no pun intended). Brown's footwork is better on offense and her rebounding numbers would be much better if she weren't playing alongside Cox and Cohen. Baylor has three players averaging near or above 8 rebounds per game so it is hard for any of them to be putting up the numbers that McCowan is. But don't get me wrong, if McCowan were named as first team AA I would have no problem with that. She is sure putting up the numbers to support first team AA consideration and I applaud her effort and obvious dedication to getting better.

McCowan and Brown are both averaging about the same number of points (21) per game and McCowan has the advantage in rebounds (12.7 to 8.8) and blocks but Brown shoots a better percentage (72% to 64%) from the floor and a much better percentage (80% vs 56%) from the FT line.
