Again, sorry Marty. You want people to ignore what has happened to the program in the last two-plus years. Part of the "fun" of going to games is being confident the players on the team you're rooting for are adequately prepared and motivated. Of course there's a few times when they'll be overmatched, but it could be that Any Given Saturday when an upset is possible. Whether you don't want to acknowledge it or not, those two things are not happening in this program. Discuss an upcoming game with a UConn fan? 9 out of 10 don't see any hope the rest of this season.
Something else you don't want to acknowledge is the casual fans -- the ones this program will need to succeed -- have voted with their feet and pocketbooks and why the upper deck was barely half full at most last Thursday. What you're describing is the atmosphere that existed when team played in Storrs in front of the same small group of people against Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Delaware etc. It wasn't a big deal whether the team won or lost.
This is the big-time Marty. 150 million-plus invested in facilities and millions more at stake in whichever way conference realignment goes, which will affect the financial future of the university. It sounds like you'd be better suited going to Trinity or Wesleyan games, which are indeed a good time. Maybe you should try that. I think you'll find many like-minded people there. You'll find it much more enjoyable.
