It was very good even by the high standard set by SNY.

Not everyone has SNY. I used to but now my cable company is in negotiations with them so I don't get SNY this season. There was a UCONN replay site that has all the games and they used to play the specials on SNY but they don't anymore BOOHOO

.-.
SNY did a great job. Great memories from that time. Jen R. was may favorite player. seems so long ago. In the beginning there was 1, and yes we have been spoiled. Thanks to Geno, CD and all those wonderful girls who have come to UConn.

I said the same thing in a recent post, only it took me 5 paragraphs to say it.

Excellent documentary. The subtitle could have been.....'And the Birth of Women's College Basketball As We Know It'. They went into how that 95 team generated interest in WCB and Robin Roberts pointed out that ESPN started broadcasting the tournament the following season.

Way to many commercials. What was nice though is that each player on the team made at least one appearance during the show. Loved Jenn Riz.

I was trying to find which game it was the Lobo blocked the ball into the stands.... anyone know?

Can't post it, but hope you get to see it at some point. Was simply fantastic, brought back lots of nice memories. Got a little verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

We're going to have to do a thread on the use of Yiddish words on the BY. It's intriguing that a language that seems to be dying outside of the Jewish Orthodox world still appeals to so many. The Donald used "schlong" incorrectly, but his reaching for a term to convey a certain sense/feeling is, I think, the reason for the popularity of Yiddish: the words just sound better than alternatives. (The last time I heard "verklempt" was in a comment by President Obama to describe his feeling of choking up.)

.-.
"Joy," "Family," Values," are the words that jump out of this program. I really felt the fans embrace this team and the team embrace its fans. That's how it still feels as a UConn fan. Many wish they had been at Woodstock in 1969; I wish I'd been at Storrs in 1995.

See Mike Myers on SNL as character Linda Richman. Classic.

The MLK game against Tennessee was the best game I've ever been to- at the end when no one would leave and the team finally came back out- the atmosphere was...crazy! Being at the Virginia game when we were up then down at the half, and the team battling- Jamelle was fierce! She willed the team to win! Then being at Gampel when the team returned- the warmth and camaraderie of everyone there, embracing the team. Wow- I treasure those times and feel privileged to have been there.

Can't get SNY in Florida.
For those of you without acess to SNY the replay is available via YOUTUBE.COM. Just do a search on Birth of a dynasty and you should find it. Runs about45 minutes without commercials. A most enjoyable time.

"Brevity is the soul of wit, and tediousness its outward limbs and flourishes; therefore . . . be brief."

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing. Brought back great memories.

I took a half-day vacatipn to watch it. One of the best games ever.

Two comments re Lobo in the show:

During the part where they show the loss the previous year to UNC, there is a shot of Becca from the side looking very displeased with the outcome. Her face there reminded me of Stewart.

In those close-ups of her speaking, she looked like she was about 28. Good on her.
