Cam, Steph, Henefield, Kromah?
I'd personally put Nadav ahead of Castle and I loved Kromah and he was great in his role, but I'd think there has to be someone else. Shonn Miller was excellent on a flawed team. Drummond takes a lot of flak but he was a 10 and 8 guy. Sterling Gibbs gave us 12/gm and 80 3's in his lone year. And I mean are we just going to pretend the David Onuorah and Kassoum Yakwe years never occurred? Well done, KO.

I think we have to give Nadav the advantage b/c Nadav totally changed that team. People forget that he wasn't getting big minutes until like the 5th/6th game of the year and didn't start until game 10 or 11. He completely changed the team by spearheading the press and his presence literally changed the way we played on both ends. All of a sudden guys were making the extra pass, playing unselfishly, and finding angles. That was all his influence. Not a knock on Castle, who was obviously outstanding, but I think people look at Nadav's stats and underrate him because so much of what he did was not quantifiable.

A lot of those shots were not easy. Many contested shots and deep shots makes it all the more impressive. Cam caught fire.

That’s exactly who he reminds me of… Henefield! Just felt like we would win whenever those two were on the court. Just brought something different that is hard to explain. Two of the best ever!!

You forgot Joey California , Sterling Gibbs and Shonn Miller’s one year impact

Yeah, I don’t understand how Cam is in the G league you’re telling me not one team can take him on the end of the bench. Or are the grizzlies developing him as their own and giving him reps down there. Biggest impact 1 year players in probably this order: 1a. Henefeld. 1b. Cam. 2. Castle(only because he didn’t come on till later in year )

I was putting impact over talent. It's why guys like Kromah and Joey C get the nod over Shonn Miller and Sterling Gibbs for me. The former are champions

Man he was good. Greatest one year Husky ever. Then Castle. Henefeld was great but I think we have to give Cam and Steph as the two best one year players
Talent wise you’re probably right. BUT no Nadav, no Dream Season…then probably a butterfly effect ie no Donyell, potentially no Ray, Rip, etc. His one year impact on the program is wayyy overlooked….

How is he not playing in the league? I guess I don’t understand how this NBA thing works with guys like Sanogo stuck there doing so well in G league.
Can used to rebound well for us too. He had games of 8 rebounds I think.
Why is Cam in the G League? Some NBA team could use his shooting.
He's splitting time between the NBA and G League. He's on a Two-Way contract with the Grizzlies, so exclusively playing for their NBA team and their G League team. He was hurt to start the season, but got into 2 games for the Grizz.

The reason I put Castle ahead of Nadav is that when he got back closer to 100% we became pretty much unbeatable and I do understand that DC getting healthy was a big part of that invincibility.

We could go back and forth on how important they each where.

Nadav came along and the out of nowhere we were an elite 8 team and our program trajectory changed significantly moving foward.

But I also think Castle changed the way 5* think about choosing UConn. Since he committed and was one and done he helped show others that you don’t have to be the star to improve your draft stock.

Nadav at #2 above Castle is understandable but he was a freshman who I think was the age of a junior so he had that to his advantage.

Kromah I don’t now we could debate number four on the list with probably a few players. We have not had a lot of one a done’s so the list is not that long.

He's not even in the Top 5.

That's the thing though... Who else is there? I think we can easily say some order of Cam, Nadav, Castle. Even though I was overall disappointed in Drummond's one year either, was he better/worse than Gibbs, Kromah, or Miller?

EDIT: Forgot Joey C! But still. Kromah and Joey C were 7th/8th guys were incredibly useful and essential to championship teams. Kromah scored 6ppg in 22min and Joey C 6ppg in 15mpg. Drummond was 10/8/3bpg in 29 minutes and made the all-rookie team. I'd put Drummond as our 5th best "one-year" player after Cam, Nadav, Castle, and Miller.

I’m sure it’s in another thread somewhere but Tyrese Martin is quietly playing heavy minutes for the Nets right now. Scored 30 points in an NBA game last week
I know he was in the starting line up last night

I'm impressed he got up 24 shots, there were games I wished he shot more while he was here

If you’re looking at impact as in how much a team changes with the addition of a player. It’s hard to argue against Nadav, who took us from the depths of the Big East all the way into a contender. He was just next level. Now you asked me for a better player was during that one year. Spencer and Steph are tied.

I'll repeat my favorite story from last season. Clingan picks up two quick fouls at DePaul. He sits next to Cam on the bench. Cam says what are you doing? Clingan kind of shrugs him off. Cam tells him he's too important to on the bench and that DC needed to play with purpose all the time. DC never got more than three fouls in a game the rest of the season until the championship game.

I always say that Shabazz had the highest basketball IQ of any player to step foot in Storrs but Cam is right up there with him. He is incredible
I swear, if you put Cam's brain in say Anthony Edwards' body....my god.

Not just a really good player, he completely duck____d with other teams heads and he was relentless on D. Man, we could use some of that now.
