Calhoun to coach

According to the CBS Sports wrapup, Calhoun will coach Saturday. That would be awesome before the Gampel crowd.

From CBS Sports:

"Calhoun missed his ninth game this season, three because of an NCAA suspension for recruiting violations and the last six after taking an indefinite medical leave with spinal stenosis. The school has said Monday would be the last game he would miss. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spine, normally associated with aging and sometimes with arthritis."

Don't understand why this hasn't been reported elsewhere, like the UConn website or the Courant. makes me wonder?

We can beat anyone in the country, IF the guys play the way they are capable of playing. The key word is the IF. Hopefully tonight lights a spark and these guys go on a nice little run.

The schedule now is home, Providence, home, the Garden. He doesn't have to travel more than two hours in a car until March 13, if we're in the First Four. I'm sure the elimination of travelling is part of it.

When we went down 18 tonight I offered to bet my buddy $500 that Calhoun would be on the sidelines for the Syracuse game. Our season was spiraling out of control and we were in danger of missing the tournament. No way coach would let that happen. Happily, we stormed back to get the win. Sadly, my buddy didn't take the bet. I could have used the $500.
