Finally, there are all those wins. I'm not going to pretend they don't matter. I'm not going to pretend that March 29, 1999, was anything other than one of the happiest days of my life, or that Kemba's shot to beat Pitt, or Ray's game-winner over Georgetown, or Rip's buzzer-beater against Washington, have lost any meaning for me. They haven't. Moments like these are why we watch sports, and UConn fans have had dozens of them over the years. We wouldn't trade our past 26 years for any other team's in the country -- not Duke, not Kentucky, not anyone. Jim Calhoun is the common thread through all of it, and he will have my eternal gratitude because of it.
