Calhoun Recruit?

I am hearing Calhoun is interested in Delshawn Jackson of Prince Tech. He is a PG and may be considered short by D1 standards. He is listed at 5-10 but believe he is shorter.

I know this is not directly UConn news but for me at least, one of the most fascinating sports stories of 2018 will be how Calhoun puts together a D3 program. He is not only a great coach but a genius program builder.

1. Find a D3 school willing to throw money at basketball

2. Go get better basketball players than the other D3 schools because you can offer more ‘aid’.

There is already a Top 10 d3 men’s basketball team in the state and you can barely swing a dead cat by the tail and not hit a TV or Radio talking about Eastern.

Chief00 I know you have a shrine in your house dedicated to JC but c'mon really?
LOL - actually I do - sort of. Pictures, F4 memorabolia, personal items and his books, etc

I guess the subtext is “program builder”. That skillset is NOT in every coach’s toolbox.

When did CTHS basketball go to division 1,2,3 and not class S,M,L etc??

Divisions 1-5 with the historically successful programs in Division 1. Then the rest placed by school size 2-5. CIAC claimed it was to try to level the playing field so that the Sacred Hearts of the world aren’t playing in class S or East Catholic in M etc

Jackson has knocked down 47% of his 3s this season. Would be a very interesting recruit for St. Joe's.

This somehow leads to Kolbe playing in Division IV. Interesting.

Which doesn’t make much sense as they beat Trinity Catholic early in the season. Figured they would be D1 as well.

Why isn’t UConn recruiting this kid?

Ollie (UConn) vs. Calhoun/Miller (University of Saint Joseph DIII)

THE PRIZE:

The State of Connecticut's Leading Scorer Delshawn Jackson

ODDS (Futures Bet) @ El Cortez Hotel & Casino/Vegas to Land Jackson:

Kevin Ollie (University of Connecticut): 150/1
Jim Calhoun/Glenn Miller (Saint Joseph University): 125/1

I probably just piss-d Calhoun off - now all these schools are going to be making ship offers to Jackson - knowing Calhoun saw something in him. So this will probably be my last SJ recruit update.
