This is at the bottom of Don Amore's story in the courant posted at about 5:30 this afternoon:

Calhoun, speaking to the alumni, couldn't resist a little jab at Boston College, a week after BC AD Gene DeFilippo told the Boston Globe his school worked to keep UConn out of the ACC. "I really don't hate a lot of schools," Calhoun told the crowd of about 300 at Bond Ballroom. "Well, maybe BC is the exception."

No doubt there will be a few who say his comments undermind Herbst's attempts at mending fences and we need to muzzle him for a while.

Herbst to Father Leahy, " I guess we both have some work to do with our folks". Maybe we should channel these passions into a great rivalry again.

Every dog has his day. And at some point UCONN and BC will meet on the field and court again.

And BC had better hope it is after JC's retirement. Because if he ever gets a chance to put a beating on them it would be epic.

I think in his tweet, Amore said Calhoun was joking. Which should be kind of obvious but when things get printed or put in pixels, they tend to lose that context and take on a life of their own.

I'm sure it was in jest.

I'm also sure that if he ever gets to play BC and has a 50 point lead he will keep the 1s in and press baseline to baseline.

Those would be hot tickets. Finally, someone would actually show up to watch BC play basketball.

That's like saying people show up to see the Washington Generals.

I think in the past 15 years I can name 2 BC ballers: Craig Smith and Jared Dudley. Prior to that was Scoonie Penn, but he didn't feel like staying in Chestnut Hill very long.

Coach Jim's feelings about Nut Hill go back to his days at Northeastern. They're well entrenched.

One memory of the BC rivalry that sticks out the most is that game at the end of the 2003 season. Uconn blew them out and shut down Troy Bell getting payback for BC doing the same thing to us in Gampel earlier that year.

Speaking of Troy Bell... Is it a rivalry when you beat a team 23 times in a row? ;)
