It's a given Hurley and staff will recruit and get a transfer portal center. He does the two headed monster thing at center every season and we have Sanogo/Clingan, Clingan/Samson, Samson/Reed, Reed/Reibe to sell a stud transfer center on.I hope we get a powerful PF. Next cycle. Rebounding is a must.
I'd say it could be a power forward type or a true 5- man as either way paired with Reibe we'd have a great situation.I hope we get a powerful PF. Next cycle. Rebounding is a must.
A lot of talk about how he'd plug into UConn ...
As a freshman, Pierce pulled down 16 boards in an ncaa win over Missouri. Had 24 and 12 against Rutgers last year. I haven’t watched him enough to know, but he could potentially be a rugged rebounder next to Reibe, while being someone who can also space the floor and be a good passer on offense. And then maybe Stewart can play 3. Not sure we get enough rebounding with a Stewart-Reibe pairing at the 4-5.I hope we get a powerful PF. Next cycle. Rebounding is a must.
Lol - I thought it was already "decided" that Pierce wasn't looking to join anyone until second semester is over, but maybe I'm wrong on that.2nd semester starts in a week? What college did Greg go to?
That's what he said but who knows what happens once he commits. I would be surprised if he commits before he knows generally what the roster for next year looks like at a school. Then again maybe he wants to get his revenue sharing payment before a school blows their budget on others.Lol - I thought it was already "decided" that Pierce wasn't looking to join anyone until second semester is over, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

True…but if he’s coming to a place like UConn with a complicated offense, having an extra 5 months in the system can only help, especially since he only has one year left. That's what he said but who knows what happens once he commits. I was jealous of how well Florida crashed the boards against us at MSG. We of course came away with the win but that definitely stuck out to me.I hope we get a powerful PF. Next cycle. Rebounding is a must.
Jan also says he's giving up a Princeton degree to come sit on the UConn bench for a few months. If he comes here, it'll be in the summerSo he might do the Karaban thing. If he does, I’d take him in a NY minute. Cam light very possibly. Rebounding is about desire and positioning as well as size. Shooting is good enough. Would be excited to hear he’d be here in January. Not if he waits til the summer though. Jan says desire.
I thought UConn was a 3 high major school? Not to mention sitting a year out doesn’t do him any favors to then go right into high, high-Major basketball if he comes to Storrs.

Caden Pierce, a forward from Princeton who is sitting out of basketball this winter and is in the transfer portal, was at Tuesday night's game on an official visit.
Pierce, the 2023-24 Ivy League Player of the Year, is a 6-foot-7 forward who could step right in and be a key contributor next season for UConn. He will be concentrating on his economics degree the rest of the school year.
Pierce has also listed Purdue (which is believed to be the front-runner), Duke, Louisville and Gonzaga as other potential landing spots.
