I'm pretty sure you just volunteered, Loop... ;)

Umm...I guess it's not against their religion to lie???

How in hell could they have a better 10 year composite ranking in basketball than us???

How in hell could they average twice as many points as us in the Director's Cup? Have they won a national championship in ANYTHING in the last 10 years???

Someone needs to get on that nonsense asap...

It was created by some bro named Jeff Fuller. I wouldn't exactly say it was created by BYU and therefore I would question the accuracy. I think Dooley and Schonvinsky have made a enough graphs at this point to compile a site.

The only way that basketball graph works in their favor is if you get more points for the NPOY/Wooden (BYU 2, UConn 0) than national championships (UConn 4, BYU 0).

He had to ignore the NABC (Okafor).

I trust that the research the B12 paid for is far more accurate, informative, and relevant.

Yeah sorry I meant to say BYU fans.

Regardless, I've always been a little salty about Kemba not winning the NPOY in 2011. Without him, that team doesn't make the NCAA's! Definition of MVP.

They did a nice job. They manipulated the metrics a bit, but that's to be expected.

.-.
The data is the same data set that was pushed around on here by a BYU poster (might have gotten booted though).

I thought that number sounded fishy, too. So I went to the trouble of averaging the KenPoms over the last 15 years. I will say, BYU over the last 10 years has been peaking. And UConn has had more lackluster seasons in that same span (national titles aside) with the sanctions and coaching change.

2002-2016:
BYU: 51.46
UConn: 27

2007-2016:
BYU: 37.9
UConn: 35.4

In conclusion, I have no idea what metrics are going into this composite that lands BYU ahead of us.

Mystery solved, he's got the 10 year composite data available here:

Looks like he uses Massey ratings for that.

On what alternate planet are those composites allowed to exist??? Screw Massey. I look forward to thoroughly and consistently whooping BYU's backside when we are both invited to the Big12...

It is pretty shocking how drastically the data changes going back just another 5 years. Both BYU's huge improvement and UConn's large drop.

Just from 2002-2006 the avg KenPom for each:
UConn: 10
BYU: 58

UConn has definitely over-performed in tournaments in the 07-16 years so far, which makes up for any statistical drop offs since the Okafor/Gordon era ended.

Pretty good way to select the proper data to make BYU look good. Any site that shows BYU basketball is in the same planet as UCONN is trash. I am pretty sure we can come up with some selective data to make us look really good too.

Anyone got some tables we should put up? I might be willing to put up a site just to show some of our strong points if I have some data.
