On the way in to work this morning was listening to Sirius Channel 84 (College Sports Nation). The show hosts were interviewing Arkansas coach Bielema. During the course of his conversation he mentioned how surprised he was that at Arky it was easy to recruit good players from Louisiana. Got me to thinking. Eons ago when I was a student, UConn had a Bogalusa connection. The hoops team got Center John Thomas, followed shortly thereafter by a couple of players (1 was an rb) for the football team. In the last decade, former player Paul Duckworth recommended a lb to FHCRE that he had coached. how common is it for former players to make such "scouting recs." to the current staff at their alma mater? Can it benefit UConn to have these "eyes on the farm" in La., Texas, even in Canada where many former players are from or played professionaly & have settled?

I feel like Raymond (RayJay) James back in 1980 might have been a Louisiana kid.

Back around 1970 we had Greg Andrews, a wr from Bogalusa, he was the first kid from there. He was followed by the Thompson brothers who all played defense (Bruce, Donny and Aundra). I think the connection was due to the Dropo brothers who had a business down there.

Having a Senior moment on the kid's name. He played linebacker at UConn when he wasn't injured. Danny?
Was that Ryan Hennigan?

Donny was a terrific LB/DE. He coached in the North Carolina area eventually becoming the Asst Head Coach at ECU in the mid 2000's? Still one of my all time favorite players.
