they are gone after next year. mizzu is staying next year in the b12 so that conf can keep its tv contract all set, then there off to the sec and wvu to the b12. so now who is next? hopefully nd!

do you have a link, or are you just an alarmist that cries wolf every time a Big East team gets mentioned for anything?

I guess it depends on when they are allowed to leave. The exit date may be moot as the conference implodes but there is a chance that WVU, PITT and Cuse have to stay until after the 2013 season.

There is absolutely no way the BE willl let teams leave early if the remaining teams are without a home, or need to find a way to rebuild the Big East.

12 months = 1 year.
27 months = ?

I'm going to miss WVU :( believe it or not.

That is assuming we never play them again.

It dosn't matter how many teams want to leave at this point. None of them are going until the Big East allows it. Nobody is leaving next year without severe penalties and legal costs. 27 months notice no matter how many teams get invites.

FWIW, the WVU board seems to have adopted an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitute to the Post story.

Beside my skepticism of the validity of the article, the author is incorrect about one important detail if Missou is staying until 2012. According the article the conference will invite WV when Missou leaves in 2012 which by my calculation means WV will be a BE member until 2014. I don't see how this helps the B12.

why would they wait to invite? it would make sense to invite now, and have mizzou in place for at least part of the waiting period.

They could do that. But having the contracts drawn with WV now could create problems for the B12 if Missouri decides to stay beyond 2012 . Remember, it has been rumored that Texas wants only ten teams to minimize any splits of revenue. Adding more teams of lesser value than those that left could trigger a downgrade in the media contract. So Texas appears reluctant to go to 12. If Missouri stays beyond 2012 and a contract is offered this year to WV for 2013 that will mean 11 teams and this could upset Texas.

No invite will be offered to any other school until after Missouri shows it's hand. Now if the report isn't valid, which I suspect, and Missouri decide to leave the B12 next season, then WV might be a candidate and the offer extended this season. Nonetheless, the 27 months would be in play and the B12 might be a conference of 9 for almost 2 full seasons.
