Really interesting how much the BY seems to have been of the same mind I was: I had a fair amount of difficulty ranking teams 5-11, but I had a lot of separation between the top 11 and the rest.

And sure enough, 5 points separate 9th from 11th, but 80 points separate 11th from 12th. That was exactly how I saw it, and am glad to see we're all in good company about the Best and the Rest.

And many gave me a hard time for saying SC would stay at 1, and yet they held there in both the AP and the BY.
And Massey and NET and RPI if you prefer algorithms.

Guess we gotta wait on the Coaches

.-.
I'm surprised we're still ranked so high. At some point if we're not going to play games we have to drop off.

Yea because they are not Uconn ! No other team in the country would of stayed @1 after losing to a non-rated shorthanded team with their best player out. These voters are all full of shit !

Two things from the AP Poll, voters still on the Kentucky band wagon and Missouri did not crack the top 25.
As usual, I think the Boneyard got it better than the "professional" poll. I had Mizzou and K State, not Kentucky or TA&M. I did differ from the BY by two teams in the 21-25 range.

Oh please. UConn is ranked #11 just because of its name. The bias is in FAVOR of UConn.

Uhhh, the BY poll is pretty much UConn fans.

I didn't vote but pretty much agree with the BY Top Ten. I would have ranked the top four in BY order.

For what it's worth (nothing) I did see that Louisville now has the longest active streak of being ranked in the AP Top Ten (81 weeks).

.-.
Revised to include the % change in the voting totals.
LSU (+6), and UNC/Mich/Tex (+3) were the big gainers
Iowa (-6) and USF/Bay/MD (-4) were the big losers

MD took a big hit (-13%) even tho it lost on the road in OT to then-#7 Indiana

  • Note Georgia and ND took double-digit % decline to their vote totals, but were in a soft spot in the chart and fell 0.
  • Conversely, GT votes rote 9%, and yet the Jackets held at #15
  • UConn vote total was basically the same, and yet fell 2 spots.

Simmer down. Uconn is still in the top 10 with 3 losses.

Do you remember, not so long ago, the many posts on the topic of Should We Schedule Tennessee Anymore? Some of those who thought not just didn't want to mess with them considering the history and friction between the teams. A good number of others were of the opinion that they stunk and not worthy of taking up valuable OC game slots. And now it would be a good game again.

Rankings. It is better higher than lower but as long as we get a respectable seeding in the NCAAs I'm not too concerned where we are week to week.

Top 10 of what?

And I didn't realize that having that having 3 losses was some kind of threshold. How many losses does Stanford have, and what are they ranked?

Implied bracket:

NC: 1 SCar // 8 Mich // 9 Texas // 15 GaT
WA: 2 Stan // 7 Tenn // 10 Mary // 14 Bay
CT: 3 NCSt // 6 Indi // 11 Conn // 16 LSU
KS: 4 Loui // 5 Ariz // 12 IaSt // 13 Ga

Dude was implying that SC was getting favorable treatment that Uconn wouldn't get if they were in the same situation, which is asinine. Uconn still being in the top 10 is an example of them getting favorable treatment from the voters, in my opinion. Stanford is a different animal of course, they have as many top 10 wins as any team in the country.

Not sure how, or why, folks would give you a hard time keeping SC at #1. Despite their loss the other day, SC should still be ranked #1.

Hmm. UConn is not in the Top 10, and indeed their falling out of the Top 10 was a front-page ESPN story two weeks ago. Nor are they in the Top 10 of our BY poll. Color me confused...

Tread carefully, or you just might find yourself accused of being brainwashed by that pro-UConn media bias.
HAH. FWIW, as you know, I do think there is a pro-UConn media bias (come at me, homers and haters!), but I don't think that extends to the AP poll itself. UConn has Geno, everybody else doesn't, and that will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt, as far as I am concerned, for as long as he is the coach. And I would extend the same courtesies, to a slightly lesser degree, to Kim, Tara, and Vic, because their teams often overperform year after year when it matters, i.e., in March-April.

.-.
I just realized I forgot to mention the teams listed on only one ballot.

(Drum roll please)

Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Towson.

Check out the Mizzou def SC thread.

KY been gone for me. But I was going back & forth about adding K State & Missouri at 25. I chose K State b/c they had 2 good wins against Oregon & Baylor. But Missouri was right there at 26 for me.

Agree. I was tempted to leave Uconn at #11, but I elevated Iowa St (11) & LSU (12) and dropped Uconn to (13) since those teams have better resumes at this point. But UConn is way better than both teams so it’s just a matter of time before they move back up.
