Here's an idea for an off-season thread. Going by jersey numbers, who have been your favorite Calhoun-era UConn players? They don't necessarily have to be the most talented ones, just the guys who for whatever reason left the best impression on you. I'll get it started

0- Phillip Nolan (default, I can't remember anyone else having this number, but I'm a big Nolan fan anyway)

1- Marcus Johnson

2- Donnell Beverly

3- Caron Butler

4- Boo Willingham

5- Marcus Williams

10- Ruslan Inyatkin

11- Hilton Armstrong

12- Kevin Ollie

13- Shabazz Napier

14- Justin Srb

15- Kemba Walker

20- Kyle Chapman (mid 90s walk-on with a good 3point shot)

21- Ricky Moore

22 - Rudy Gay

23- Rudy Johnson

24- Scott Burrell

25- Rob Garrison (not a big talent, but the desire to improve was always there)

30 - Shamon Tooles

31- Brian Fair

32- Richard Hamilton

33- Donny Marshall

34- Ray Allen

35- Charles Okwandu

40- Ethan Waite - I have to support my (former hometown) hero

41- Can't remember anyone having this number

42- Donyell Marshall

43- Jake Voskuhl, default

44- Predrag Matteric

45- Osazee Omokaro (would've been Eric Hayward but ... yeah, you know)

50- Emeka Okafor

51- Edmund Saunders

52- Pete Kane (default)

53- Jeff Cybart (default)

54- No player has ever worn this jersey number

55- Nick Forostoski

I'll take NG as the #5
Marcus had a lot of talent but let UConn down in a lot of ways. NG is ten toes in!

#20 has to be Murray Williams. Part of the NIT title team, and paved the way for Calhoun to recruit Chris Smith.

The question feels like a major homework assignment.

Interesting post, but I'll just troll the answers.

So Justin Srb is not by default. And who is Pete Kane? Does he really get the nod over Corny?

No, but my only other choice for 14 is Curtis Kelly and my main memory of him was taunting ol' Ben Eaves on the bench. Pete Kane was a really foul prone walk-on who played for us circa 1995-96. I didn't get to CT until the 92-93 season, so any Calhoun guys before such as Corny I can't really judge. Plus I guess Nolan doesn't really qualify as his freshman year was under Ollie.

Man, I hardly ever feel insecure when talking about Uconn, but maybe I should hand over my keys to the Boneyard or my Husky fan card.

I don't know or remember any of the guys' numbers!

4- Adrien

Loved Adrien's heart, but Ben Gordon was also #4. Played a huge part in winning a Natty C, was a top 3 pick, and has been in the league 10 years. Did all the things you need great players to do to to enhance the reputation of the program. He gets my vote.
