Eh. I am grumpy because I want Italian food.. The idea looks too Duke-ish or Syracuse-ish.

Yes, last night in the last few minutes of the game, our walk-ons did shoot a few of them

After seeing Busty Heart smashing bricks I think UConn will need to find some other ways to commemorate the University.

I don't know why but the first two things that came into my head when I saw the title was a shot that missed badly and Pink Floyd.
First thing that came into my head was:

"Lets stop right now and gather up all these bricks and build a shelter for the homeless so that your mother will have a place to live."

the answers to this thread by fans is exactly why uconn leadership feels no pressure to get anything right. amazing.

To be fair to you, i do think its a really cool idea. maybe we should do something like this for the bball facility. Or, if were lucky, Rent expansion to 65k.

its not a really cool idea, its a basic one that should have been 100% rolling a year ago to get the pf noise going. uconn some how fumbles it and no one gives a dam so they get away with doing nothing. its just amazing.

I think the reason we're not that upset, is that it's just expected that we will screw up. We're numb to the stupidity at this point.

There are days when i scream at people for no reason because im so angry at the incompetence of the leadership at UCONN.

The fact is that until we get a new coach and start winning games, none of us will be happy...and everything we do will look stupid by association. Its amazing how many blunders winning covers up. Unfortunately, we aren't winning, so everything looks awful.

You do mean football coach, correct!

yes, of course.

To that question....the basketball program looks slightly less incompetent and ridiculous because of all the winning we do. But the same AD/Pres/BOT is responsible for certain aspects of both programs. Winning is the cure.

The current state of affairs is on the last AD. I'm holding judgement on the current AD for now. The football board seems to think GDL is out as OC. I hope that's true. If true that wasn't a PP decision imo but Warde having a talk with PP.

Ben Folds Five

Sadly, the Hathaway Era will go down as a huge missed opportunity. Dual titles (never been done) in 2004, and a FB team with Orlovsky that was much better than anyone thought it could be quickly. Ending with Kemba and a Fiesta Bowl (and two more WBB titles and a BB Super Regional to boot). We should have built and built and built some more. There were tons of opportunities to tap into the excitement - instead we didn't even fill the top fundraising position and Hathaway got himself a nice raise and a car deal.

Now, we have a fan base that is seeing the Big East dissolved around us, and we're still looking for a chair, while the two flagship sports are suffering. Not much excitement to tap into now.

I agree that this is at least 99% Hathaway's fault. He was an unbelievable hack.

Its amazing with all the terrible decisions we've made pre/post-Perkins, that we totally "lucked" into a hall of fame basketball coach that made us the best team in the nation for nearly 15 years, and a successor to him that looks to be (albeit at an early time), an excellent coach that has great potential, and had learned from some of the best.

These guys haven't had to make any tough decisions in a very very long time. JC was here forever, and his job was never in doubt...and edsall was the correct guy in the beginning...and not firing him was a safe move that few could argue with, despite the fact that it was clear that he hit his ceiling.

Now, all of a sudden, there are many HUGE decisions that need to be made all at once
- How to get us into a stable, profitable conference situation
- New basketball coach (done)
- Football head coach needed 2 years ago
- Football head coach needed either this year, or next year
- Many football assistants need to be hired
- Fundraising for the bball facility (actual fundraising, not the nothing that Hathaway did)
- Marketing our program for the first time.......maybe ever
and much more that i can't think of right now.

It seems so far that they are doing a poor job. Everything except the bball coach, and fundraising has either had no progress, or bad decisions were made.

I hope these guys figure out what needs to be done soon...but im not very confident in their abilities right now. I really hope they prove me (and many of us) wrong

The answer to this thread is that this website suffers by your very presence. You know so duck*ing little and talk so duck*ing much.

If you had even the slightest interest in knowing what you're talking about, you'd actually know when we'll all have the chance to buy one of those idiotic bricks.

And here's the kicker...you won't buy one.

Post less and think more. Seriously - grow up.

1-this website would lack a ton of hits without me
2-i do not know of the date, please inform me. the ad hasn't. and if they have then its poorly done becuase it should be pumped media wise. uconn business school should be dropped 50 slots for the worst marketing program in history. i remember they did a nice website for the donor stuff and a couple art pieces of the facility. that was hot news for 4 days then they let it sit instead of reminding ppl it exists. how about when they got on the radio they coulkd metion it or after a chat with a writer and stuff like that. how about a commerical during a game and so on.
3-i will not buy one you are right
4-i'll grow up when this ad grows up.

We did this exact same donate a brick campaign with the addition/modification to Babbage library about 5 years ago fyi
