Bria Hartley is the bomb

It's too bad that Bria had to have her cold shooting streak early on and get folks all flusterated and all. There was never any reason to worry about her shooting.

25 pts on 9 shots.

One of the most reliable measures of offensive efficiency is the comparison or ratio of shots taken/points scored. In very general terms, these numbers should be approximately equal. Once they get out of whack, they indicate either excellence or weakness.

The numbers reward shooters who (1) hit a good percentage, (2) draw a lot of fouls, or (3) hit treys frequently. Conversely, they penalize those who (1) miss a lot, (2) fon't get to the line or miss when they do, or (don't make treys.

Bria's stat (25 points on 9 shots) is extraordinary. Deadly shooters like Kaleena generate good stats by nailing three pointers. Aggressive players like McBride are rewarded with free throws. Those whose shot selection is poor (e.g., Simmons, DeShields) are penalized.

Over time, it's a very good measure, good to use with things like assist/turnover ratio, etc., to supplement or complement total points scored.

Watching the game I felt right from the beginning that her shot has much more lift or arc than it did during the dark times... she looked very smooth. Dunno if she'll be unanimous AA or not, but I'm sure glad she's ours.

So looking forward to seeing these guys against quality opponents. I know we're very good, but HOW very good will only be determined at the end of the road.

In a just world, TBS, KML, BMS and Big Game Bria would ALL be first team AA, and MoJet and BB would be at least third team. And Saniya would be FOY. This, of course, will not happen because we do not live in a just world. But they are all likely to get gold rings.

So what you're saying is there are no good players on other teams? That seems pretty unlikely, no?

There is 1 first team, 5 second team and 3 3rd team spaces to be filled by talented, albeit not as talented players from other teams under the hypothesis advanced.

What! No love for the best center in WCBB?

Who would that be but BigMamaStef? Incidentally, Kiah just might be the most deserving 6th man if she can stay healthy. :) (You must have missed the BMS)

Bria was always a scorer but this season her decision making is amazing as shown by her assist to turnover ratio! The kid is first team AA in my book!

I never recognize that or TBS. I think of initials in a very linear manner.

The thing about Bria is:
We've seen games in which she attacked the basket
And we've seen games in which she shot the three-ball.

I'm just not sure we've seen the whole package (at least lately).
Maybe she's saving it for the Dukies.

The problem is, a lot of UConn players don't play enough to pile up stats - even now that everyone's getting a lot more playing time than normal. Sure by your eye test every UConn player at every position is better, but in reality you have to go by something a little more concrete. Sims and Ogwumike need to be 1st team, at least. Mosqueda-Lewis, who has played all of 1 1/2 games this year can be on the 2nd team if she plays well in the last 2/3 of the season. You can't put people on the AA list just based on their potential or what they've done in the past. It's not fair to the other kids on other teams that earn it.

UCONN only wants National Championships...........AA are icing on the cake.....

I catch your point but Geno has made it clear that regular season conference championships and conference tournament championships are very important. Of course, I haven't heard that reiterated since the move to the AAC, but still...

How 'bout top 10 ranked at least. Duke, Baylor, Louisville x2 or x3 and then the last few games of the NCAAs... but then you knew that. NOT Hartford, Oregon, BU, Monmouth, St.B., OSU and UCD.

why did you leave out Stanford, Maryland and Penn State?
just seems like you think they haven't played anyone. are you truly worried about Duke Baylor and Louisville x2 or x3?

Holy crap. Read my posts again. Obviously, we already played these quality teams you mention and may not see them again. THAT is why I didn't mention them. Did you think I didn't mention these teams by accident or as some kind of rhetorical device? Teams evolve... especially in light of the injuries and recovery therefrom. We just came through a stretch of truly bad teams and that was little or no indication of where this team is at. NEVER did I suggest that we haven't played anyone yet, you made that up in your head for some reason. NEVER did I express "worry" over the top 10 teams to come.

There is no possibility that KML will not be AA this year. She is the best shooter in WCBB and a terrific all around player.

I agree that Simms and Ogwumike will make AA even though Ogwumike did not play like an AA against us. I am looking forward to seeing how well MoJeff plays against Sims in the Baylor game. I think MoJeff is right behind Sims in the point guard field

I don't think it is impossible that all of UConn's starting five will be in the top 10 players of the year. I believe the WCBA all american is 10 players.

Although very unlikely, it's not inconceivable that Bria ends up with 2,000 points. That kind of blows my mind. And if she remains healthy she's all but certain to end the season among the team's top 10 scorers of all time (though her stay would be brief thanks to KML and TBS). Impressive stuff.

I just read a mock draft that had her still on the board when my Storm pick. she just seems to get better and better. If we can't trade up for Stef (who is exactly what we need) I would love to see Bria in green and yellow!
