Why doesn't this kid get any playing time with Boatright out? He had a nice move to the hoop and was immediately yanked, never to return. I understand the only reason he was in was to give Shabazz a breather, but you can't continue to run Lamb and Bazz out there for 40 minutes a night, their D and offense both severely suffer.

Maybe JC didn't want him taking any shots at all? No idea. I was wondering why we didn't see him much myself. I thought maybe after we took the lead in the second half Shabazz would get a breather and we'd see Allen for a minute or 2, but then again I guess there was no need with the 2 timeouts that came immediately after the lead was taken.

Wow, check out this postgame quote from Calhoun:

Calhoun: “Maybe I should play Brandon Allen more minutes. At least he had guts to take it to rim, didn’t look like he was gonna fumble it.”

hahahhhaah that is funny.... maybe he should start him instead of AO next game....

I'll chalk AD's poor finishing today on possible sickness or just a freshman game, but AO gets no pass for his consistently terrible hands and finishing 2 feet from the basket....

Clearly, Allen needs to play more, even if just one to two minute stretches a couple of times in each half to keep SN & JLamb fresh

Sorry everyone, but Brandon Allen is not the answer.

Nobody is saying he's THE answer. But given that we have all of one single true PG on the court who can dribble with the ball, would it kill us to get someone else out there, too, every once in awhile?

I don't mean to bash the kid - he's a walk-on after all. Yeah it would be great to have another point guard and Allen had a nice drive to the basket last night. But if you look back at his earlier performances, I would not be comfortable with him handling the ball and running the offense in a Big East game, even for a few minutes at a time.

It's not ideal. But without Boatright, our best option at PG is Shabazz Napier and the second best option at PG (by a long shot) is an exhausted Shabazz Napier.

He executed his role perfectly and that was to give SN a little longer breather than a tv timeout.

anyone ever see tyler olander dribble a ball? hes pretty good at it for being a pf. if hes got another pf on him i bet he handles the ball alot better. give him the dam ball and tell the rest to clear out and go up court. i bet he makes it 9 out of 10 times into the o without a problem. lamar odom flow.

i see no choice but to go nutzo like the rest of this board.....for some people the sky is falling, for some it fell and they lived through it some how but are complaining about it.

With RB out indefinitely we are not prepared if something were to happen to Bazz (including foul trouble). Allen needs experience since he's all we got on the bench.

He was not "yanked," When Calhoun believes he needs something from a walk-on he almost always plays him for a short stint early, so he is ready if he's needed later. He wasn't yanked. They wanted to get him in for a short period and they took him out exactly when they planned to.

Whether he should play serious minutes is another question, but I'm comfortable that if the coaches thought he could help, as opposed to fill in during an emergency, we'd see him.

An exhausted Shabazz is probably better than Brendan Allen, but I don't think that's the point. If you want to keep Bazz fresh you have to bite the bullet and play the freshman walk-on for 3-4 minutes a game. Hopefully Boatright comes back soon.
